Memphis audio SCREWED me!

I guess I can see the reasoning behind it. If the amp wasn't purchased through an authorized dealer and it blows and they repair it, wouldn't Memphis now hold some sort of responsibility?

Then again they could have charged him like 50-100 over the normal price and only gave him a 60 day warranty or something.

he said "Pay for repair, not warranty"
Doesn't matter. You didn't purchase it from one of their authorized dealers, therefore Memphis doesn't want to hear from you. That is their rule, has always been their rule, and if you don't like it, don't purchase Memphis products from an unauthorized source!

transhippers will tranship pallets at a time..
i've seen it.

I was just kidding about datboiroy and joshualittle.

Why is it that people (and the OP) assume that Memphis should service it? Memphis is under zero obligation to service this item even if the customer wants to pay for it. Why would they continue to support someone by offering service at a price when the customer would not pay for the service from a authorized dealer in the first place? I as a retailer don't have to sell you squat if I don't want to. If I have a customer come in that I know is going to be a problem, I will recommend that he shops somewhere else and becomes that businesses problem. Memphis is doing the exact same thing. They do not want your problem, the problem that the OP created. Nothing wrong with that at all.

unauthorized vs authorized dealer
not

pay for repair vs. warranty.
In this case they kind of go hand in hand. What kind of message would Memphis Car Audio be sending to their authorized dealers if they charged to repair amplifiers that were obtained from unauthorized sources? In that case Memphis would be indirectly supporting the one thing that they speak out against the most.

One of the FIRST things Memphis will ask you to provide when calling them for a warranty OR out of warranty repair is a copy of your receipt OR the dealership you obtained the item from! I learned this the hard way:(

And as soon as one of you buys a used Memphis product, and are told to go **** an egg if you ever contact Memphis because the original buyer didnt go authorized... will you come here and tell us how 'stand-up' it is of the company, and how great it is they are looking out for their dealer network more so than the actual customers?

That is one of the downfalls of buying used.... the amp came with a receipt when it was purchased..... what if you get it stolen and have no proof of insurance because you tossed the receipt in the trash. You are given a receipt for a reason, is it Memphis's fault that you did not keep it or give it to the new owner?

I was really hoping that Memphis would pull a J. Demuth and say they'd throw it in the trash if he sent it in to get fixed.

Wow, a SPL van does a 165 with Memphis gear...does that mean the guy isn't allowed to like the company for different reasons? Last time I checked he didn't say "I never liked Memphis because they can't get loud." You seem to be getting a little defensive about the company...are you related to audiolife? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
This is a company who SPONSORS me , of course im going to defend them ! What an idiot ! Anyone who works in this industry understands why Memphis is this way ! Jonathon Demuth will stand behind his product IF it purchased properly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Memphis seems pretty clear on their position.

OR read the following:

"If you purchase Memphis Car Audio products from any non-authorized source, be advised:

WE WILL NOT HONOR WARRANTY CLAIMS ON PRODUCTS PURCHASED FROM THE INTERNET OR ANY NON-AUTHORIZED SOURCE. IN ADDITION, WE WILL NOT ISSUE A RETURN AUTHORIZATION FOR PRODUCTS PURCHASED FROM NON-AUTHORIZED SOURCES—EVEN FOR A FEE."

ETA: What we have here is a pointless gripe by the OP. Thanks for playing "Thread of Fail" and have a nice day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
