Memphis audio SCREWED me!

There is really no need to beat around the bush. The web page should simply say "WE WILL NOT REPAIR PRODUCTS PURCHASED FROM THE INTERNET OR ANY NON-AUTHORIZED SOURCE". Then no one could get blind sided with a broken unit that can't be repaired while Memphis Audio plays games with the definition and intent of a "return authorization". I read the web site, and I think a reasonable person could conclude that non-authorized or Internet purchases void all warranties, but nothing else.
When was the last time you paid a fee to have something repaired under warranty? Their wording sounds very to the point to me.

Don't be snide. A return authorization indicates an intent to return something to its supplier. Most online vendors use this terminology as part of the warranty, "swap for refurbished", or "return for credit" policies. It may or may not have anything to do with the out of warranty repair process.

That is not necessarily true. I called up kicker to have them repair an amp for me (one that I purchased used from a friend), and I had to use an RA number for the amp. This is used to help keep track of the item and any charges that it may incur.

And yes, I did have to pay to get it repaired.

I think Memphis' wording is fine.

I purchased a couple of memphis audio 4 channel amps off of ebay(both worked great!) I had them both tested and NO problems. Then when I finally got around to installing (about a month later) one of them would blow both internal fuses just as soon as it got power! I called Memphis to see about getting it repaired, NOT WARRANTY, (I was offering to PAY) but guess what? They absolutely 100% REFUSED to repair it because I didnt buy from a dealer!! Who turns down money? this is the biggest load of crap I've ever encountered! I dont understand why, especially with such a "bad" economy, someone would turn down work and money! I have been using Memphis audio for years, and NOW I will NEVER buy their stuff EVER again! Not to mention The woman I talked to was VERY rude to once I said I purchased online.
So just a word to the wise......NEVER tell them you bought anything from ebay or any other online retailer, if you do they will tell you to screww off!! Dont get worked over like I did, go with JL or anybody that is NOT Memphis Audio. I now have a $500 amp that is worthless cause They dont want to fix their own stuff!!

Your a dumbass.

Kill yourself

LISTEN!! To ALL who disagree, First I am NOT asking for warranty. 2nd, Why shouldnt they fix it? if i bought a chevy pick up that was 10 years old from an online seller, I can guarantee my local chevy garage would NOT turn me down for repairs!! The people who are disagreeing are probably small, no-name shops that are being killed by internet sales, Maybe if you spent more time building a website and less time on forums telling everyone how close-minded you were, you could make a little money(forbidden) And Lastly, When I called Memphis back and LIED about where I bought it and told them I had a receipt, They were STILL gonna make me pay $100 for the repair, so dont tell me they EVER fix for free.

you seem like the close minded one. IIRC memphis doesn't even repair the amps, they'll swap the board for a brand new one.

funny how you defend net sales as I would bet a large percentage of people get screwed from warranties and or recieve b stock or banged up product. That is the GAMBLE of saving a buck is it not?

That is true...but it also doesn't say plain as day on Chevy's website that if you buy a pickup off the internet that they won't fix it like it does on Memphis's website...so your analogy in this case makes no sense.

And Lastly, When I called Memphis back and LIED about where I bought it and told them I had a receipt, They were STILL gonna make me pay $100 for the repair, so dont tell me they EVER fix for free.
You can lie about where you bought it and you can lie about you having a receipt...but they can lie to you when they say they'll fix it and then don't when it shows up there without a reciept.

While yes I own a shop, I am also not a Memphis dealer and I am also outside of the US. What happens in your market, let alone the US market does not affect me at all. The point that you are failing to understand is simple, MEMPHIS DOES NOT WANT YOUR BUSINESS. If other businesses do, great, use their services. Again, MEMPHIS IS UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO FIX YOUR AMP EVEN IF YOU WANT TO PAY THEM TO DO IT.

Now you resort to lying to Memphis to get your amp serviced, give your head a shake here bud. All you have done is make yourself look like the poster child for idiocity. You made a bad purchase, you can't get service and you came to the net to whine about it, deal with it.

I bet his thread of fail didn't go the way he wanted it to:laugh://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh:

On a more serious note, I have been able to purchase products online for 50% or greater savings over purchasing local. In theory, I could purchase two, sometimes three items, and still save money over what I would have paid locally for ONE. I accept the fact that there may be a risk, and I make a decision beforehand as to whether the risk is worth it or not. If it is just a few dollars difference, I will buy locally. If it is 50% or greater, online wins hands down!

to the OP ....now all this time has went by ..you could have sent to db-r.or some other company for repair...instead of being on here trying to talk down memphis ...Looks like to me you can't read and understand simple english

Memphis just wants to wreak profit..obviously if they only want to accept things from a retailer that sells them for a premium instead of online where the real deals are..if u ask me that's what i thinks going on..a slick rip off

Its going EXACTLY the way I wanted it to go!! Look how many of you are reading this and telling me how you feel?! With any luck you're telling other ppl about it too and then all of them,(if they're not brain dead) will know just how bad of a decision it is to try to deal with memphis audio!! to everyone that agrees, GOOD FOR YOU! all of you who dont get it thats fine, and forbidden your now excused, now that I see your from canada, that explians it all!!
