I have a memphis Mojo 4kw amp

And I was just wondering what the word on the street is about them.

Are they good amps?

How are they with heat and long periods of running?

What kind of power do I need to have?

Just some simple questions, it would be great to hear what eveyone has to say.

Yes

Heat?.......and whats "long periods of time"?....those questions dont make sense

Depends on what ohm you wanna run this amp at......they are current hungry from what ive seen

By heat i think he means does it get hot after playing for a while or does it stay cool. and for long periods I think he means if it will be good for a daily setup.

It should be fine, but adding a HO alt for an extra couple of hundred is always a good idea with a setup like that.

Any amp that puts out a true 4kw (as that Mojo does) is going to get hot... you'll NOT be pulling a full 4kW from it continuously, nor anything close, but it's still going to get hot if you're hammering on it for long periods of time.

As for the word on the street, the Memphis 4kW is very well-respected in the car audio world as a high-end amp that does a ton of power. I think it would be much more commonly seen in real-world use if it weren't so expensive, but hell, you get what you pay for, right?

Good pickup on that amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I installed one of these for a customer a few months ago, he recently came back with nothing substage working. 2 15" mojos, and 4kw, opun checking the subs were toast, changed those still not working i started checking the power at the batts/ amp. i got 16v with the car off, and 17-18v idle in a 99 camero. Drew so much current it fried either the regulator or the alt in general i tested ac at the alt and got a wierd a/c wave.....Upgrade your alt.... IT is definatly needed.

Definitely upgrade your alternator.

It IS needed. This amp WILL give you power, and lots of it, but it is a current hog.

I had a 220amp alternator, 3 runs of 1/0, and 4 optima D31 YellowTops. And it was happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif...
