i think gallery rating needs to come back, but to rate a picture you need to have a certain post count. that would eliminate alot of newbs posting negative comments. and each username can only vote once.
fix the search option. i once posted a thread about GZ engineering. i did a search on it. and i didnt get my new thread (was too lazy to search for it)
then i did a search for ground zero... didnt get it again. this happens to me quite alot really. the search function is utterly usless. i dont know what the hell is wrong with it =P but fix it.
definatly an image size. like max image size is 500px by 500px... that would fix a few of those 56k killers.

a 'disaster install' section. all blown equipment questions\awnsers\problems\wounds ect
a 'tehcnical\measurement' section (stated eairler) for formulas\known port sizes\box dimensions, so people could post their box\tuning sizes so other people didnt have to caluclate everything in case someone already made the box they planned on making
maybe some kind of 'grouping system' that will group people into catagories depending on what equipment they have, there would be a list of companies, and you select\input your equipment into the engine, and it would 'sterotype you' into a group with other forum members that own that same stuff... so if you have questions, you could ask, and vice versa. these brands would show up in your user profile, and you can select ONE of the groups you belong to to show up under your username.
also some kind of direct linkage from the galleries to the forum, but only the forum. some kind of UBB code that will link your OWN IMAGES uploaded into your gallery to be able to post in threads ONLY, so there would be no bandwidth stealing and stuff. somthing like [gallery]filename[/gallery] ya know? so newbs or peopple without webspace can post their images in the forum (unless ther is a way to do this already, id ont know it!)
im sure theres more, but thats all my suggestions for now.
i personally like the color scheme.
