my gfs dad was an ex-trucker. tho, her mom and dad hated eachother, so he lives 3,000 miles away, and the only time i talked to him was when he was trying to act like he knew what he was talking after he woke up still half drunk when i was fixing the steering box on her jeep, in which i told him everything he said was correct and fixed the job perfectly, and proceeded to do it the actual correct way.

try that.

find aout about some of the crazy things he has seen on the road,

ask him to teach you how to drive the truck .

see if the truck is 9spd(under or over),10spd,13spd double under or over, or a 18 spd, super 10.

see what kind of trucks he has driven and what ones he likes better.

ask if he double clutches or slip shifts.

Just tell him you will take extra special "care" of all his daughters while he's on the road.

slip shift I'm guessing is just clutchless, its sooo much smoother that way. My dad has an 8LL in his Autocar 10-wheeler I love shifting without the clutch, just nothing smoother when done right, little bit tricky on a car with synchros but can be done, just don't make a habit of it.
