We saw some of the heartbreaking images from Ethiopia, and felt compelled to do something about it. From now until December 25th, 2012, everytime we sell an alternator at normal price, we will be donating the funds required to provide an entire month's worth of nourishing food and clean water to an entire household in the village of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This effort is in partnership with Bethany Christian Services, a hands on grass-roots missionary relief organization that will be on the ground, distributing meals and supplies to our sponsored families. Our goal is to provide one year's sponsorship to 10 families. If you were considering upgrading your alternator, you can also help someone in desperate need at the same time. We will update our website and Facebook page with pictures and info about each individual family who gets sponsored as the month progresses. These are real people who struggle for the most basic of life's necessities, Many of them with special needs children.

We can so easily change their lives for the better, I know I feel guilty spending money on upgrades for my system, when there are so many people in the world that don't even have clean water to drink. With how blessed our nation is, it would be selfish to not pay some back. These people in troubled nations who work as hard as they possible can, and still barely survive. I personally know the people who are distributing the funds on site, so I know they will go to the right people and not be wasted or stolen from.

You can Learn more at:

https://sponsor.bethany.org/donors/sponsor.nsf/home?OpenForm&s=knoxville

If you wish to voluntarily donate directly to this cause, a simple $30 donation is all that is required to provide food and water to one family for an ENTIRE MONTH. Donations can be directed to Bethany directly at the web link above, or you can send them to us and we will forward you the pictures and details of the Family you are sponsoring.

THANKS FOR READING GUYS

This is an actual family from the sponsor list, The youngest has been blinded, which makes it very hard on the mother. We will post more pictures of other families as we sponsor them.

We also donate thousands of dollars every year to Charis in action, a local charity that supports struggling local families in a variety of ways. They support folks here in Knoxville, TN, eastern KY, and throughout Appalachia. (some of the poorest regions in the U.S.)

The Ethiopian cause is a way to diversify and help a much larger number of people in a much more dire situation than anyone has in the US. The worst day in the worst part of the US, is still better than the best day in Ethiopia.

I believe in keeping our money in the us. the biggest problem i have with donating cash is.... well in Colorado legally the company taking the donation only has to donate 8% to the cause.

here is another problem i have. I worked for milgard windows. they were huge on the donation and matching the employee. well they donated like $300k one year and half of it was employee funds. guess who got a nice tax break that year??? yup the company because when i asked for my receipt they didnt even know what i was talking about.

so now every time i even think about donating money I rethink it and say screw it. I will just volunteer like i always do.

Wow. A nice charity in my own back yard. I'd help but I can't find anyone who makes an alt for my car (2010 Nissan Sentra 2.0) Do you guys make them?

What the fucking fuck is this stupid spam advertisement bullshit?!?!?
You're a vendor. Go promote this crap in your section. Get the fuck out of the dome with this garbage. No one gives a fuck about Ethiopia. Fix the problems in your backyard. You aren't going to get into heaven by sending money to arm criminals in some third world country, dumbass.
First of all, we don't have a section appropriate for this. Second of all, the only ******* here, is you. This money isn't going to buy arms, it is going to individuals that I know personally, 100% of it to purchase food, water, and basic life necessities. It has nothing to do with getting into heaven, we are simply having compassion for other suffering human beings.

I don't know what happened to you to make you so angry, and have such little regard for human life, but I sincerely hope that you are able to get over it in the near future. It must be painful to harbor that much hatred. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Thanks go out to Delvin J. and Robert K. This means that we are now providing 5 months of food and water to our sponsored family in Ethiopia. Only 7 more, and we can take in another family on sponsorship.

Just saw that u r in Knoxville!!! Awesome!! Good luck with this. :)
Oh yeah, you're just right down the road. Most of our local efforts go to Lawnsdale Elementary or KARMS, both of which are right in the ghetto part of downtown. Lawnsdale and Mechanicsville are the worst... Our warehouse is right off of Magnolia, which is regarded by many as the worst part of Knoxville. I would way rather walk down magnolia at night than anywhere in Mechanicsville.
