Mechman Alternators vs others??

Hey all recently acquired a Mechman 270A on a trade for a 2003 Dodge Ram Quad....

I was very happy with this obvious upgrade to my electrical......however....

over on SMD forums (which i am beginning to dislike very much btw) as well as locally....I have been getting scolded for my choice in Mechman over models such as Iraggi, Rush, and especially DC Power.

I have been getting told that the idle amperage of the Mechmans is horrid in comparison to the DC's and other equivalent size alternators....and that I would have to be at highway speeds to even come close to getting the power that I will be expecting from it......holy sheetballs batman....i sure hope thats some B.S.......

Is this just people being overzealous about what brands they like.....or is there any warrant to what I am getting told?

I compared the specs of the Mechman to the equivalent DC Power one on their websites and it seems that yes the DC Power has better specs, but not to an overwhelming extent....

Is the build quality comparable?

Any one had experience with both of these?

WHAT IS THE DEAL????!!!!! lol

Well, the site owner sells hats with his autograph on them as if people give a f uck. He has his followers, those same pleebs hug the nuts of DC Power and the others. That should tell you everything you need to know. Try the alt out since you already have it, if you are happy with it, great. If not, ditch it. There have been plenty of people around here who have used mechman with no problems.

HAHAHAHA then its not just me!! You speak the truth my man lol

If it works it works bottom line.

Personally I only use Welcome to Ohio Generator for all of my applications and have been for the last 9 years. We have contacted other companies but non have offered the same customer service or support to us that they have. More then likely do to us being a loyal customer more then anything though.

At 700rpm on that vehicle you should see 150-165a output based on the output curve.
That's not too bad....would a different size pulley provide more constant idle output? And if so what's the highest I could expect to see constant at 700-1000 rpms?

from the picks they look like goofy goobers lol, i actually might buy one from them though seem like they know "watts up"
Indeed they are....umm...odd ...lol. Great guys though and they treat us right. I can not comment on others obviously.

I would be happy to try out other brands, but when we have contacted other companies for products, the offers we get are no where near what we already get so it is hard to say yes lets spend more on something else that does the same thing or less....just hard to jump on that offer lol.
