Mechanical Engineers

That doesn't work. Life is NOT about your performance. It is about how well you play the game. The sooner you realize that, the better off you'll be. Look around you at the people that are in positions that you can't believe they are holding.....
Life sucks. Why do I work so hard? hahah

Yea, like the people that run this forum for example.
Now it is all making sense to me

Oh, and seriously bro, GPA doesn't mean shit once you graduate.
really? You dont think for example, BMW would hire the graduate out of Clemson in ME with a 3.5 over me with the same major, same school, and lower gpr? If it doesnt work that way then I am about to quit school and just beg.

Trust me dude, Ive been down this road, im a junior at ohio northern university, a pretty prestigious private school. I started out as a ME, and went through 2 years, i too struggled with Statics, retook it and got an "A"(D the 1st time) and got a "D" in statics. I began taking calc 4 and differential equations this quarter, and realized its above me and i wont be able to comprehend it without being 80hrs deep in studying which i refuse to do. I made the switch to "manufacturing technology", its more hands on, less theoretical, and you get alot more CAD and hands on courses, you may want to look into this too. im 2 weeks into the new major and i love it.

Generally speaking (unless the person hiring you is a nut swinging fanboy), no one will ever discuss your GPA with you ever again. It is the actual degree that they care about. That, and if you are getting the job done.
I don't have a clue what any of my employees scored in college. Nor do I give a ****. When I hired them, I validated their degree, and they keep their jobs by getting the work done.
That makes some kind of sense to me. As someone hiring people, I personally, would prefer to look at how well the person applying for the job was able to learn the material and if he could reproduce what he learned which all related to grades. I believe what you are saying and have heard that from many others also. But, would you want someone analyzing the design of a bridge and its structural rigidness who got a 100% in the statics/dynamics class or the guy who squeezed by? There are plenty of examples recent and in the past of where the engineers of a design mess up and lives are at stake......... I agree that most employers most likely do not compare GPA's for certain positions, but trying to really think about it, I would not want to hire someone who barely understand statics/dynamics as someone who is going to review blueprints and tell me if the design is sturdy enough to support the cars I expect to travel on it....

That is something I was looking to hear. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I plan on seeing what kind of programs local school have for manufacturing technology.

I would want the person who got 100%, but there would be no way for me to find out who that was. Of course if you look at the most successful people today, you wouldn't find any of them that graduated at the top of their class. It takes more than test grades to cut the bill bro.
Well, I look at that as a good thing. Thanks for all your knowledge. I would much rather get by in school and show people how I am very organized, work very hard, and am very dependable.

Honestly' date=' you are on here way too much to be doing 60 + hours of actual school work a week. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif[/quote']WTF? Me? Do you know how long it takes to type a sentence? I may get on here and share my 2cents but I rarely ever spend more than 5 consecutive min on this forum. I will leave my browser up on my laptop all day sometimes when I leave it on and take it with me to school, but like I said you are crazy to say that. Today is the only day since I have been in school that I have spent more than that 5 min. and that is because we have a test at 7 tonight and because I have already done all the studying I can do, I am just reviewing my notes sheet and quickly looking at some problems.

The ME's I know are working for Autozone. There's too many of you fuckers right now.
haha that really doesnt surprise me. We have the biggest ME department at Clemson this year than we ever have. I think one guy said we have over 250 ME's in my class alone which is another reason I wouldnt mind finding something else that I enjoy.

No need to get all defensive, was just my opinion.
