mdf ring

need to make one for my door speakers, but does it have to be out of mdf? could i make it from ply wood?

my plywood experiences have been less than stellar compared to mdf.

i just didn't know if i'd have any problems, maybe with it snapping or rattling? it'll only be for my speakers running off the hu.

imo MDF would be easier to conform to your sub. like i think it'd be easier to sand down n stuff.

Plywood is actually stronger and could handle bending stress better, especially thin sections. Thin MDF tends to snap if you put uneven stress on it. For mounting rings the wood isn't the primary baffle, so density isn't required. Plywood edges are ugly tho and more difficult to finish off.

well, it'll be in my door so no one will see it, so it doesn't matter how it looks
