i think as long as your box isn't rediculously huge 5/8" should work for you. just add some bracing to make sure nothing flexes though

So if I built a 1.2 cutft ported enclosure for a type r 10 to fit in the middle compartment hole in the back of a zo6 would I be fine using 1/2"? The box would fit pretty much snug so I doubt it would flex and its a sq based install so max output isnt the goal.

Will be running about 400 RMS to it, may get some 1/4 sheets of 3/4...should do the trick. Should be no larger than 10x10x10.

Nah, 5/8" is sufficient for that box.
