MDF density?

Hi there, I just built a box today with my dad with a bunch of MDF he got off the job site. Let me tell you, this thing came out nice!

Its made for the 12" Type-R but I dont have the sub yet lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I was reading online about a box for like 30 bucks and it say " 3/4" mdf (medium density) " .

I dont know what density the MDF we used was but its defiently not soft lmao.

Also, how much difference would it make if its "hard density" rather then medium.

I use the hard density Premium Ranger board..the stuff is heavy as fuk

but it makes an awsome sounding enclosure

thats what mdf stands for and its not soft lol. I bet its the same **** thing. Now the high density is alot stronger, but you can get the same strength with proper bracing.

When I said "its defiently not soft" i meant it, things hard as rock!

Are you supposed to "joint" them or can you get away with screwing and glueing only.

jointing would be great!

but for a simple enclosure for a single type r, screwin and gluin should be perfectly fine

Haha, yea I was wondering if the OP knew this or not.

There definitely are different types of MDF though. I've seen dark MDF and light MDF. The light stuff seems to cut nicer but it also seems more absorbent of water. I don't think one is stronger than the other though.

I jointed mine together and this thing is effin solid.
