Sold MCINTOSH DD head unit for sale - *MINT*

I am sorry, I have been a McIntosh dealer for quite a few years and they have never offered a double din to the general public....in any location..Japan, Korea, Canada, USA...no where. This headunit is the product of McIntosh, but is not a stacked 406...since a stacked 406 doesn't exist, we will try this:

McIntosh made this a double din due to the needs of the Subaru Legacy. The second din is to make way for a cassette player. The tech at McIntosh is correct in saying this. It might have 4 rca's out, but we don't see that picture showing it. But, you are correct in saying that it is not available to the public...ie...you can't go into a McIntosh store and order one....not here nor even in Japan. This was like the Mark Levison system in the Lexus, the Dynaudio system in the Volkswagen, and the Bose system in everything else. McIntosh has only made one Headunit that was specifically designed for the Subaru Legacy.

McIntosh has installed one of their headunits, an amp, and their speakers in only one other car from the factory....the Ford GT. That HU is the 406...but for 150,000 dollars, it seems logical that they would put their top head unit in it. Not in a 30,000 dollar family car.

This was a little more complicated than the examples you post........and not anything like it in sound. Your post almost makes your position sound uneducated on the subject....... And not to be harsh, but read on......

Sure, you've heard this story before--from a company called Bose. But the majority of their car-audio setups are merely better than the off-the-rack stuff; they aren't mind blowing.

What we're talking about is mind blowing. It's the 200-watt McIntosh Audiophile Sound System
But what if a high-end audio equipment manufacturer took a car to its labs, meticulously studied the way sounds bounced off the seats, fascias and fabrics, then outfitted that vehicle with a machine designed to reproduce sounds as true and clear as you're likely to ever hear from recorded music?

After an entire afternoon of running errands with the Outback, we parked the car--and then didn't get out. We listened one more time to a song we'd heard dozens of times over the years, Elvis Costello's "Little Triggers." You could hear the slight scratchiness of Costello's voice on the high notes, and even pick up the saccharine sound of backup singers. Who knew there were backup singers?
Subaru should be commended for teaming up with McIntosh
This not some hopped up factory system with a Mcintosh badge. This is the real deal.

And yet you dance around the question.

Skiddish buyer or a not so sure seller?

You claim its a stacked 406 yet you have no proof. A review by who? SO what the system in that car sounds better than my $26,000 Alero... Point? Doesnt mean that head unit is a 406.

Based on a 406, thats the only thing you got. Now how losely is it based on the 406 is the real question...

A question I fear you cant answer as you dont know.

You sit here and say the Tech contact for Americas is wrong. Now wait a second here, he is the professional... Did I miss something?

You attack me...

Come on now, I said something about the E Bay auction. The E Bay seller never replied to emails, like I would buy... Anyhow... Yet Im trying to get you to do the leg work, and you already pointed out the auction went well over the $400 mark, get real dude.

I wasnt born last night either. I come prepared. If I dont know I know people who do know or can point me in the right direction. Like Chris, aka Geo. Dont forget Joe aka onyrmrk. BTW Joe is team focal and has been invited to finals for SQ, what a bout you?

SO rag on me if you like, you definetley are not with the program and your eyes are shut.

Good loss on a sale asshat...
