Sold MCINTOSH DD head unit for sale - *MINT*

But alas its still double din...
darn straight. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I looked forever to find one. Had to import it from Japan. Plastic pockets look like a turd. Fill the WHOLE space with juice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That is true.

I almost put an eclipse into my car, double din/screen. Would require some mods to the bezel which Im really not to fond of doing... But I may do for the right unit.

I read back a bit and seen another post on this unit.

There currently is a DD Mc on E pay. Claims to be out of a limited edition Subarua Legacy. So what did this come out of or where, etc.

A tad bit mroe info please.

True to ebay fashion, that is a scammer. He copied my listing word for word when I had it listed on ebay way back with a reserve of $425. I wrote ebay.

My Auction:

This Mcintosh double din head unit is basically the stacked version of the MX406. Since they do not make a double din unit for sale to the public, this unit was only available in special edition Subaru Legacy vehicles. It has full Cd changer controls, plus front and rear RCA outputs. It is a non powered unit, meaning no amplifier is built in. This item will link to some MCintosh amps for direct control. It can be used on any amplifier or speaker setup, there are no restrictions. This is a J-spec unit I imported from Tokyo last year. It comes with the frequency convertor to make the radio play on American radio frequencies. Works great. This unit is FLAWLESS and located in Chattanooga, TN. Shipping will be by FED EX with instant tracking. Shipping is FREE. Please email me with any questions.

YOU be the judge ................ Ebay sucks, that's why I refuse to relist it.

But he has an actual product image listed and it looks *similar* to your, but its not the same.

At any rate Im interested in both. Obviously he has a distinct price advantage at this point. But I still am unsure where both of these came from.

I guess what Im getting at is what are these, both OEM's out of a car, some special made product, prototypes? what?

**Edit, ok after re reading the post and not just the rant I see...**

Also pics of the rear, mounting, etc.

I thrive on more info. Help me out and maybe we can strike a deal. Im slightly upset as I got outbid the other day on an RF denon 8250... So Ive about given up on that pursuit. But Im looking for something in that line thats comparable or better than...

You're not paying attention bub..... he stole the entire auction listing...... yet you trust him to have taken the picture..... ?

I can get you 100 pictures of this head unit from all over the internet to use in 100 more auctions stealing descriptions. That's how he GOT the picture, he looked through closed auctions for descriptions!

If you aren't gonna help yourself, I can't help you. I see those accounts hijacked all day long. I mean, we already KNOW he is a thief. It's not like there is not a big red flag there.

It's a nice cheap price, I hope you have money to give away.

Good luck on that auction //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

True thats another thing happening on E Bay as of lately.

Just happened to a member of my board. SOmeone hacked his account and listed some high end crap. Ebay closed the listings and tried to stick him with the listing fees though...

I guess its possible, but also possible he may have the pictured unit and no info so he took yours.

At any rate, Im Ryan FYI //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you could snap off a few pics and feel free to email them direct to me if you like, or post here.

As for info, do you have any info about the internals on this. Just trying to get an actual feel for it. Is it really the 406 in a double din, or is that a guess.

Info, pics, please //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I could be wrong on this, but I believe you already mentioned that this WAS imported from Japan...

I thought that deck was only available as an OEM deck, as part of a premium system on a Subaru Legacy that was only available in Japan (sort of like Mark Levinson OEM systems that are only available in the USA)?

If so, has the tuner been converted to work with the AM and FM radio frequencies that we use here? Or is it still containing the Japanese-compatible radio receiving circuitry?

Yes it has the frequency convertor. I used it daily on all normal stations.

I'd have made mention if the tuner was useless //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm trying to keep from having to rip the bose system out of my new Mercedes. If I decide to do so, I'd use this head unit, but thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif:)

I don't see it mattering, looks like you retracted $105 bid and the unit is at $550 right now and still going. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well I didnt call I emailed them.

Maybe Ive missed it, but I know I asked a bit more info then youve provided. Like how do you know its a stacked 406? You say it, but I see no other explanation. Maybe it is, maybe it isnt. Maybe you know, maybe you dont.

Info, info, info.

You say the tech support wouldnt know, but some guy on a forum does? Being new here, makes me wonder. I dont know you, your qualifications, your knowledge level, etc, etc, etc.

Also most of your comments/remarks have been less than inviting, actually you have come off pretty snide.

At any rate, heres the reply I got, in its entirety:

They are based on the MX406 but are designed to hook to the dedicated amp/EQ module in the Subaru, that has fixed EQ set for the speakers and car acoustics of the particular Subaru model and does not have normal output and power connections.

Get a real MX406.

So my question hasnt really been answered and I fear it will probably never be. Its based on the 406, but where do the lines blur? Is it a stacked 406 and its as simple as that, is it less than, is it mroe than?

I see Chuck made his opnion quite obvious...

And about my bid/money. I did retract my bid, amount doesnt matter really. If the seller wont respond chances are it wouldnt be a good experience. As far as money, ya I put $120 on it I believe. If I really want it I can get it. Hell Im really eyeballing that Denon Z1 on E Bay also. Ya I got that much too...

So my money and small bid is very irrelevant...

See he's completely wrong. It has 4 rca outs just like any other head unit as well as standard power connections.

I'm very well qualified, but that has no variable in selling this head unit. Like he said, like I said, like everyone has told you.... it's a stacked 406. "go buy a 406" is easy to say when you have $1200 to blow and make them some more sales, but best used on a stacked 406 for $399. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

...........and no I'm not doing a bunch of legwork so you can go bid on the ebay auction after you gather info from me. laughable. You're bidding on his auction and asking me for info. LOL. I was indeed born at night, but not last night!

Equally your money is just as irrelevant here, because the unit is not for sale to you. Everyone loves a skiddish buyer. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

The scammers auction is climbing towards $500, while this sit's here for $399. This is for sale to anyone else who want's it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif:)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
