Mazda rx8

As far as the 350z, I really like that one too.. unfortunately I'm not as educated on performance specs of cars. The interior on the 350z is nothing spectacular, unless you get the very expensive track package.

Way I see it, you spend more time in it than looking at it.

actually they dont have 240 horses if thats what mazda advertized. they recently gave the option to owners to give back their rx8's because they actaully had like 15% or something like that, less HP than originally advertised.
^^^^^^^^ Yeap, the RX-8 bhp was overated.

It's a great car, with very nice handling characteristics. I wouldn't call it a "true sportscar", but it is sporty. Does 0-60 in 6seconds I believe, but again that's with a 6000rpm clutch-drop.

Again, nice car, nice price, but the MazdaSpeed version is coming to the US, with higher performance marks; of course higher price.

Rotary engines are the less reliable of the automotive motors too, so keep that in mind.

ya all these times are made by professionals on tracks also dropping the clutch at 6000 rpm on cars these people do not own... who is gonna wanna drop the clutch that high up on a car they own and are paying for. also the engines are far far less reliable than the standard engines of today.for that type of money the winner for me is the mustang cobra. or even a GT with the saved money spent in mods would be ten times quicker. jsut my 2 cents

Hopefully Mazda fixed the seal problems that plaqued the RX-7. Great car, at least from what I read. My cousin almost got a RX-7, but he races, and runs hard along the track, so he was worried about the RX-7s know overheating problems. Not that he couldn't fix it, he can re-build motors and all sorts, but in his word "to much of a pain".

He got a 94 Toyota MR2 SPGT! Done sold it now though. I do like Mazda, I think they have the best compact car on the market (3series), and there 6series sedan is sweet.

RPM delivers HP. Even if it has little torque, if it can keep it through 9000 RPM, that does make it fast. Why do you think that when you race, you let the motor wind as high as it can? B/C thats where the HP is, regardless of the torque.

where the hell did you learn that from?? motors dont make more power the higher the RPMs, have you ever seen a dyno graph??? the HP peaks around 4500-6000 RPMs on most cars, then it drops.

Your numbers are wrong...Having worked for Parkway Mazda-Infiniti when the RX-8 was released, the car was advertised as having 250 hp in the M/T and when tested it was actually around 240 hp, shortly there after Mazda America offerred to buy back any RX-8's from any owners who felt that they didn't get there money's worth in a performance difference of 10 hp. To this day no one has sold their car's back for this reason. I am no longer with Mazda but I do still have friends that work there. As far as performance goes there's not many cars in the 25k-33k price range that you can do 98 mph in second gear without tearing something up and this is something that we used to do all the time just to see how well we could get down on it. The fun factor in driving this car is very high. Just wait until they release the 350hp "MazdaSpeed RX-8" it's going to be off the chain..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The Type II rotary in the 8 is an all new take on the Wipple Rotary design and far surpass all previous rotaries. Rotary engines were consider unreliable mainly because most people didn't know much about them and wanted to treat them like your regular combustion engine and you can't do that. The engine in the RX-8 is actually a dual rotary design and the car has very nice performance for the cost and yes it is considered a sportscar by the industry as well as your local insurance company... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

98 in second gear?!?!?!?!
Yes sir!!! Note, that is pretty extreme and it is not reccommed for this car.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

well technically you can go 98mph in 2nd in ANY stickshift car....just acclerate normally til you get to 110 in 5th or 6th, and just put it in 2nd, you might not have a running engine afterwards, but you'll one hell of a hole in your hood //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well there you go guys. the real numbers. i thought it was like 15% less but im not gonna argue with someone that worked for them and make my self look like a douche bag //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Oh boy, I get to explain how HP works again. Thats an interesting but useless fact about HP usualy peaking at 4500 - 6000, b/c the whole reason for having a 9000RPM redline is that its HP DOESN'T drop @ low RPM, I mean you understand that much right? HP = torque * RPM / 5252. If you read that until you actually understand it, you would know that making an engine hold its torque through higher RPM results in more HP. Yes torque is what gets you going, torque is the actual measurement of how much force being put on the wheels to make you go, but there is a crazy phenomena that when the engine is wound up higher, even though there is less torque at high RPM, it still accelerates faster. That is the whole point of a HP measurement, it gives you an idea of how fast your torque is going to make you go. If you don't believe me, try racing your car and shifting @ 4000 RPM (assuming you have about a 6000RPM redline) every time. You will still have the same ammount of torque, but for some crazy reason your car wont go as fast. Now imagaine if you didn't have to shift until 9000RPM w/o any drop-off in torque. And for god sakes stop trying to insult other peoples knowledge when you don't know what you are talking about.

when people race and dont shift til redline, its not b/c thats "where the power is" its b/c of the gear ratios, your car will simply accelerate faster in 1st than it will in 2nd.

and redlines arent there to let you know when your power drops, redlines are there to tell you not to keep revving or your BLOW YOUR ****ING ENGINE UP.

and " HP = torque * RPM / 5252" is probably the dumbest thing ive heard in a long time.

I dont know how to respond to that. You're not even making a point, you're just an idiot. Do us all a favor and just stop trying.
