Maxxbass work like bass knob

My Treo SSX 750.1 does not have a bass knob. I would like to add one to it. Would I use an epicenter or maxxbass by Precision Power? I love the bass response from my 2 RF T1's so that is not an issue. I just got use to having the bass knob on my amp. What is the fundamental difference between the maxxbass and epicenter?
