Maxx-Link question...

My friend has 4 amps. MTX 40001d Thunder elites. He has 2 Memhis Mojo m3 dual 2 ohm coil 15 inch subs on each amp wired to 4 ohms each. He decided to get a maxx-link

He ordered it and got it yesterday and says his installer who manages a local audio shop, says it won't work unless he drops 4 subs. I'm not sure what they mean. What does the subs have to do with linking the amps together?

Any ideas on how to hook up the Maxx-link with his system?

That's just it. His installer read the book and said he would have to drop 4 subs. I don't see what the subs have to do with hooking up the amps to the maxx-link

the ohm load, when u link the amps it changes the ohms im not sure how and only will work with the right load or u will end up with a really low imp

ask la de 2000 he knows this real good

The subs hook up the exact same way as before, the only diffrence now is once you match the gains on each amp, you can use the maxxlink to control all 4 amps via gain knob

It will work just fine all he needs in 4 male/female Y adapters and hook those into the

A+ B+ C+ D+ and then whatever length rca off the Y's to his amps and wire the subs exactly as before, sounds like he is only using the maxxlink so he can have 1 bass knob to control all the amps at once.

Thanx andrew for your help on this. Yea the main reason he is doing this is because those amps have alot of settings thats hard to match up.

But if there was a way to change ohms with it that would be cool to because hi amps are only seeing 2 ohms each. 1 ohm would be way nicer.

Well since each of the 4 amps has two subs and is seeing 2 ohms if he strapped two of them he would still have the same ohm load because of 2 amps having 4 subs right?

14.4VDC POWER 4 Ω 1250

2 Ω 2200

1 Ω 3750

4 Ω (Two amps strapped) 4400

2 Ω (Two amps strapped) 7500

Peak Power 7500
