Mature Amp Advice

I'm looking to purchase a high quality amp that fits these parameters:

1,000-1,500 watts RMS @ 1-ohm

1-ohm stable (see above!)

THD less than .1%

Reputable company

Budget: $300 (Sonic Electronix price), with about $50 extra if necessary.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. I would rather get less power that is clean(er) as opposed to more power (that is cheaper and not as clean).

It's been a while since I've been in the CA world. My last amp was a GM-H200, class A. Yep, that dates me!

Symphony- I read somewhere that these amps come from a buildhouse. I'm assuming that this means, they allow someone else to build the amp and then stamp their name/logo on it?

The specs look decent (right at .1%, pretty "standard"), but it looks like they've been in business for 2 years.... Is that right?? No disrespect to anyone, but I don't really want to be someone's product line guinea pig. Please correct me if I am wrong on any of this!

Well, I'm hoping to get some wise/mature advice on an amp selection. Maybe that wasn't clear? I could have re-worded, I guess...
OK gotcha.. American Bass makes some reliable gear in your price range. There are many here that run it with good results.

The VFL 100.1 fits the bill

1500W @ 1ohm

I have been thinking about picking up one of there smaller footprint units as well.

I like the 4480.1 thats 2K + @ 1 ohm

They also have the 2680.1 that's more in the power range your looking for.

around 1250W+ @ 1ohm

There are several distributors of AB gear on here that can hook u up... Like Jim (MYLOWS10)

Or Brian @ SMS

The crescendo amp is very decent

but look into sundown, dc, american bass , digital designs, ct sounds, soundqubed, even upper end kicker and rockford are decent. Jl is still good just stupid expensive.

my advice would be a dd m1c its rated at 1200w at 11.9v so at 14.4v its close to if not surpassing 2kw. I bought mine for 412 after taxes at a dealer. Some dealers are a little more or less. Used should easily be under 350shipped in good shape.

Maybe I should clarify what I'm using it for. I have (3) 100.9w Infinity Kappas that I want to power. RMS is listed at 350 watts, but I don't want to run my amp at max RMS power. I looked at the MB Quart (RA1500.1) as well as the OA1000.1 (.02% THD), but I don't know whether the quality of MBQ is as good as they used to be. I hesitate to say which subs because there are a thousand threads on which subs to use, and I don't want to go on a tangent. Back in the day, Soundstream, Alpine, and Rockford were pretty solid, with a hundred "other" brands to choose from as well.

Is it just me, or are there so many newer names that is is more difficult to sort through? Every amp I look at seems to have practically the same specs. There is no way that Boss makes amps that high quality. And I'm suspicious of Pioneer's specs when they sell their amps at Walmart.

Am I missing something here!? Am I being too picky?

Checked out the CT Sounds AT1400.1d. Gorgeous amp (aesthetically), and seems to be able to pull some power according to (

). I will actually be running at approximately 1.5 ohms, so the power would be enough. I'm not planning to play them hard, so I don't need to max anything out. Thanks for the advice. I've just never heard of them, so there's no telling how long they might last. Thoughts on this?
