Massive CW and my 801d

ok..I got the 15in. CW running off 800w and the sub moves like i've never seen. Which is why I may need some help. I got some smell coming from the sub and also in the cabin but im not sure if its suppose to smell like that now since my previous CVR 15s smelled the same but were going strong. Also the sub is new and it says to break it in for 2hrs...I have a freq. and EQ setting on my amp...I set those by ear and by looking at the sub, there is no clipping. Should I take the sub out of the box and run it free-air to see if everything is moving smoothly?

ok i read that the EQ is a bass boost on the amp...would it be better if I just set the gain and freq. on my amp and turn the EQ all the way down?

Yes turn the bass boost down, you're probably slightly clipping the signal....also does your amp have a Subsonic filter option? if so now would be the time to dial it in about 20hz and down. "outgassing" thermally is perfectly normal for any new sub, so dont fret when you smell a funky odor comming from your sub. now if you got a funky odor comming from yourself, you've got other issues //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok..ive already turned the EQ all the way down and it still sounds good...glad I read that. No I have no subsonic filter and my box is sealed. How would I know when to stop turning the gain up, when the sub looks like its trying to hard...really dont know where 5volts stop. This is how i set it BTW. I dont really know if im stressing the sub because off all that dam excursion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif . Also, I cant hear any bass when I turn it to say 26 and my HU goes to 35...I set the sub at volume 34. Is the reason I cant hear any bass because of my big box..which would make sense btw. Do I just need to turn the sub up on my HU?
