The Wistles Go WOOOOOO!
Hey guys, i usually help people out with their car installs around here.. but one of my friends was askin if i could do his boat. Seems like it wouldnt be a problem theoretically, but i was wondering if anybody has dont a system on a boat, and if they have any tips, or things that i might not have thought of yet.

its a pontoon boat with 4 6 1/2s, he wants me to put in a HU, an amp, and 4 new speakers. sound quality and spl are only mildly important, but he would liek a good mix.

ive been checkin out equipment online, found some decent stuff at woofers etc, but wondering if theres a site with a little more of a selection maybe? budget is liek 400ish, and he already has a kenwood HU (not marine, but on a smooth boat, in a well covered location, freshwater, i told him he might as well run it and then spend money later if he has to... its a cheaper one and he doesnt care about it much)

thanks for any help.

a pontoon boat huh? i am huge into wakeboarding boats, as is everyone in my area and have a nice setup in mine (my dealer does systems in them up into the 20-30k range), but a pontoon boat is a little different. mainly an open area right? shoot, i wouldnt know where to begin on one of those, setup wise.

yeah im sure its mostly open, but to my understanding, theres enough walls and seating area to conceal wires and an amp. and he said that the speakers are in both sides of the existing walls, theyre not in any kind of tower setup or anything. picture them as door speakers just in the walls of the boat. i dont knwo what ill be able to do in the form of imaging, btu i really dont care.. he said all he cares about is not having 4 shitty blown speakers to a broken tape deck like he has right now.

yea, you can hide everything. just do four or eight 6.5"s and a four channel stable at 2 ohms. i know what a pontoon boat is though. i think your best bet would be to just run some coaxials.
