Marine Audio 6.5" speakers

My step-dad wants to be able to listen to his music going full speed on the lake. I honestly dont remember the brand of boat it is. I know it has a v6 and honestly isnt loud, its just the wind.

I have never dealt with marine audio so i dont know what is good or what to stay away from besides the obvious low priced things. You think we would need to buy an amplifier and new speakers or new speakers would help? If we do an amp and speakers, would installation require anything differently than in a car? Would I have to run i all on a separate battery?

If it requires a new battery we most likely wouldnt do it, therefore would speakers be worth buying if we are not amping them? Any recomendations for marine speakers if they would help?

sarahs dad got speaks replaced n her boat by xtreme,, they said it was good, but then i believe they got it amped and said it was so much better,, it was either they got it amped or went from kenwood speaks to jl marine speaks, , ha im kinda not very helpful, but ask sarah and her dad theyll remember better then me snce its there boat,

but instalation for marine is the same as car, lol as far as xtreme goes

I think my friend put some pioneer marine speakers on his dads boat as a budget set up and they were great... I want to say pioneer or alpine. They sounded great!
