I never understood, why cannabis is illegal. I heard from my pothead friends that it was the Dupont family(that make teflon and all that) that lobbied the government to outlaw it as a dangerous drug because they were invested in cotton at the time and hemp made a much stronger textile that was cheaper. Sounds like it could've happeend that way, but my source has couple of other "theories" about what goes on in Washington that don't sound all that sensible.

I say why not delegalize other drugs and instead of picking and choosing whats OK for us to harm our bodies with, make it all illegal. Alcohol has destroyed far more lives than cannabis in my experience. Who really needs caffiene? Thats too closely related to cocaine anyway, throw that out as well.

I think I'm just pissed I'm going to work on a Sunday. You may or maynot want to ignore this post.

i dont know if it has been said already, but abusing alcohol is abusing alcohol and abusing pot is abusing pot. every now and again ill go over to a buddies house and smoke 2 or 3 joints. i will also go over to a buddies house and drink 6 or 7 beers. now if i did either of the 2 every day, it would cause me problems. if you somke weed in moderation, i dont see the problem. some people drink alcohol and some people are alcoholics. some people smoke pot and some people are potheads.

I feel that the crime rate was increased dramatically with the illegalization of a lot of drugs, and for that reason some should be legalized, with restrictions such as alcohol and other substances.

The problem is that, no matter how much you try, marijuana among others will never be legalized. The issue is not anything about the harm is causes, or the potential for abuse, it's the crime that's involved with it. The government in our country is hungry for power, and one way to get that power is with laws that restrict activities enjoyed by many...gives control over the people, and that's necessary in the view of many politicians. I don't agree with it, but the illegalization of drugs, as well as the attempt with prohibition to illegalize alcohol, is a route for increased governmental control.

I won't get into any of the other "conspricies" that have been used to gain power in the government, but I'm convinced this is the main reason for marijuana still being illegal. There is a book, which I will try to remember the name of, that depicts very convincingly the relation between crime in the US and the crack down on drugs.

As a fellow pothead..I said legalize it because like many others have said...plants are not illegal. I once watched a tv show where a cop in columbia actually ATE cocaine leaves. Now if cocaine leaves aren't illegal...why should other naturally grown plants be illegal also?

They wont legalize the Green herb because its way out of hand for the government to control. The only reason its illegal is because UNCLE SAM is not getting his portion of the money. It would be very hard for the government to compete in this race because so many dealers is out there now, they would have to offer a lot more than what anyone can offer. They would have to offer more than just a bag of weed, they would have to sell weed by the pack such as cigarettes. I truly dont see the problem with weed but some others do. I feel if cigarettes and alchol is legal i feel weed should be. Take for instance if a person goes through a withdraw with cigarettes they seem to be more aggitated and pissy acting. Cigarettes seem to sooth others plus it tells u on the pack that its goin to kill u. Alchol on the other hand kills ur **** liver and ****s ur mind all up when a large consumption is taken into the body, basically drunk. Weed serves many diffrences but to most it soothes them such as cigarettes, it may through some shit off a bit but as long as its controlled.

well, i didn't read through 10 pages of too-conservative and then on the other hand too-pothead people, but there's gotta be at least some of you who had moderate opinions.

however, i know a few facts

alcohol is more detrimental to your physical condition than weed.

could i ever explain why weed is illegal? no, not for the life of me.

i do know that the rise of drug laws and drug enforcement has caused the incarceration rate in America to go up 400% since the 70s, while violent crime has overall gone down ~8.5%...

prisons are overcrowded with drug "offenders", while violent *** offenders are being let out to make way for drug dealers and non-violent drug "criminals"

heavy tax, better education, along with the legalization of all drugs and we'd eliminate the prison overpopulation problem, and have alot more law enforcement on hand that could be used to keep rapists and murderers off the street...

i don't even smoke weed anymore, although i have more than 50 times in my life... just don't like being high all that much anymore for some reason... but there's no excuse for what's going on right now.

I just think we should be like Holland where its legal and not abused. Over there its all legal and less than 1% of the population use it. Once you take away the illegal factor of bud half the morons will stop abusing it. The ones who will use it would see it as alcohol, a recreational drug used in moderation.

i smoke occasionaly with some friends to just relax but i voted no opinion because if it becomes legal some people will quit smoking because it is now legal and some will smoke if it is legal but if a person is going to smoke they are going to do it wether it is legal or not

Since this seems to be the stoner thread...anybody else a Kottonmouth King fan? Im a huge fan and saw them in concert a few weeks ago....awesome *** show...every stoner should go to at least 1 of their shows.

Im apathetic to the entire issue, but you have alot of one sided opinions in there.
anyone that bought marijuana helped to fund the terrorists – Its very well possible that money from illicit dealing goes to 3rd world countries such as Afghanistan

You seem to be so eager to stick one to the US government that you overlook many important things.
i dont care if my money goes to afghanistan, cuz afghani goo is tha shit! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
