manual transmissions....

If you really just think about how the clutch relates to everything, and why it works like it does, it makes things alot easier. The first time I drove a stick, I learned how to drive it in 0 minutes, seriously. Took right off, although a little rough on my very first take off. After that it was smooth sailing except for getting stopped going up hills, which gave me problems for about a week. Once you get to know your car's clutch then you'll be able to tackle hills no problem. Just take it easy and practice in a parking lot. I learned in both a 95 V6 Mustang 5 speed and an old Chevy truck with 3 on the tree while hauling mulch around (that was fun). Probably only killed it about 5 times in 5 years, just not paying attention or having the music to loud or something. As long as you pay attention to what you're doing its easy as can be.

i smoke my clutch all the time, well at least 10 times power breaking it when its dry out, and it still grips like new. also my car isn't the best car to learn in, its got a rock hard clutch. Another problem i have is when your waiting to turn onto a street and theres tons of cars comming and u have to just go for one of the holes, well everytime i try in my car, my tires just spin and i go no where, or when its wet with semi bald tires on a hill stopped, thats fun. i cant even move. but to sum it up, the easiest stick to learn was a semi for me, u just let out the clutch kinda and it goes without giving it gas.
