?manual Car Remote Starter?

I know this is not audio but we have alot of tech heads here and perhaps someone knows a thing or two about this.

Does anyone have a remote starter for their manual car? How does it work? If you leave it in gear will it simply not start? Do you have to leave it in neutral in order for it to work.

I live in New England and it gets really cold. The car has a turbo so I would prefer to warm it up before I drive it.

Where can you get one if they make them for manual cars.
