Tulsa Middle Schooler Arrested For Bringing Gun To School

Tulsa - A Tulsa middle school student is under arrest after allegedly brining a gun and ammunition to school. It happened Thursday at Byrd Middle School, located on East 57th Street near Memorial.
School administrators found the weapon on the 8th grade student. They're thankful, because another student saw the gun and slipped the teacher an anonymous note.

Administrators say this could have been a catastrophic situation. While they found the gun empty, they still found bullets in the student's locker.

The timing of this incident frightens some parents, who chose to pick up their students early.

"I got a call from her and she's a little upset. She's concerned about her safety in view of the Virginia Tech incident and I can't blame her."

The student who alerted the teacher is being hailed as a hero.

"This incident illustrates the importance of communication, from student to teacher, teacher to administrator, administrator to law enforcement and school district officials," says Tulsa Public Schools Spokesperson Tami Marler. "Tulsa Public Schools recognizes the bravery exhibited by the student who stepped forward to inform authorities of a potential danger. This type of good citizenry is vital in keeping our schools safe."

Meanwhile, the name of the student who brought the weapon to school has not been released. We are told however the student will be suspended and barred from campus for at least one year.

Two other incidents with weapons have been reported at Tulsa Public Schools this year. One was at a high school, the other at an alternative school. Marler says all secondary schools have hand-held metal detectors on campus.

And then my cousin sned me a message saying he's not going to school tomorrow because someone sent a letter to his high school saying " Terror will reign upon CPHS on April 20th" And crap

I heard about the thing at the Middle school today, the gun was a Semi-auto but I didnt believe it though.

This whole world is going down the crapper.

remember last year there were 3 deadly shootings and them boom nothing for awhile, same with the columbine incident, there was a cluster of them and then nothing for awhile...it seems to happen every time...

LOL a kid brough a gun to our school last year.. Wasnt really that big of deal cuz the Resource Officer got tipped off really early.. He only planned to kill one teacher that was a ***** and himself.. He stole the gun from a local lumber yard,which had it hid for security purposes... That same kid got beaten up a few months prior and had his arm broken by one of my friends.. The same friend of mine (who gave the beating) got busted with a gun in his vehicle 1 month ago.. He had no intention of a shooting tho.. He had been hunting the night before and left his rifle and 500+ round of ammunition in his Chevy

FYI my school has a Skeet Shooting team.. Yes, They MUST bring a gun to school..HAHA

I mean, it's no big deal to me cuz the school I came from, everyone was packin heaters. But it was kind of a balance, because everyone knew that if something went down everyone was going down, kind of like how the nuclear sitution is now. But at my new school (I moved) there are a bunch of scaredy kids that would freak out if anything happened. I think I would have been more safe at the other one because someone could take a shooter out before they got out of hand. I dont know though you have to watch your back everywhere you go
