Man shot for loud motorcycle

most of the time people revving their bikes is just them being ignorant to the fact that revving your bike does nothing to help warming the bike up, most people think revving it will warm it faster and yet if you just let it idle it will warm up just fine. alot of times bikes are just loud, thats the way they are built, choppers and harleys escpecially, they are loud no matter what rpm and what gear. i guarantee it was something other than having a loud bike.

idling/mild throttle through neighborhoods is 180 different than 1/4 to full throttle as far as noise goes. People with straight pipes can control how annoying they are.

Coming into my neighborhood I always find the sweet spot in the throttle that keeps me quiet....other people could do the same if they chose to.

point taken, but my bike (which is a katana, which is pretty quiet compared to most choppers/cruisers) at idle in front of my house, i can hear it inside, no it's no obnoxiously loud at idle, but i can hear it without a doubt. kicking into first to take off would without a doubt be considerably louder than idle and there's no getting around that, i can take off in 2nd gear if i finesse it but that's pretty redundant. i can see returning from somewhere you can be in 5 or 6th coming in and it'll be pretty quiet, but somewhere along the way someone will know that you passed by.

my point is, most of the time there's no getting around being loud on a bike. I try to be as considerate as i can when i ride but there's a shit load of people out there that hate anyone on a bike, and people need to get over it instead of whooping a gun out and shooting someone.

especially in the face

I think he likes it to much. but I as well coast in second gear through neighborhoods, no need to keep it up at 5k in first when I'm coasting.

I ride and have loud pipes, but its the same as stereo, slow and quiet in town. I have a prick of a neighbor with a sportster with straight pipes that hasn't learned how to be quiet in a neighborhood yet. Pisses me off.
Would I shoot the guy in the face though....hell no. Sounds like somebody was either unstable or afraid to confront the dood face to face without a weapon.

Next thing you know people will be shooting ricers with fart can mufflers.
That would be a cool sport!

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. - Police said an Indiana man shot another man for riding his motorcycle too loudly. The shooting resulted in a SWAT team surrounding the suspect's house until he surrendered. Watch The Story
Police said John Moore, 53, shot Jamil Roberts, 20, in the face.

He wasn't shot because of his motorcycle. Ha.

You know what the real problem is? Houses! They don't build the walls thick enough, I can hear kids laughing outside, I can hear the UPS truck idling in 4 houses down, I can hear my friends stock speaker system when he has his windows up... go****itt i can hear everything! Can't put a sub in a house these days without considerable deadening because everything shakes too, If only home builders used stronger and better materials none of us would have these problems.

Why dont you add some insulation?

Lol, I live with my parents and my dad is stubborn, it'd be easier for me to stab all of the giggling kids than to convince him that more insulation was neccesary, and anyways I'll be in college in like 8 days... I can deal with the innocent laughter of children for a couple more days...

And that right there is why my next large purchase will be a decent sized chunk of land that I can build on and get the fuk away from people!

Wrong, Harley's come from the factory not much louder than a car, the loud ones have been modified, illegally I might add, to be louder. These bikes definitely violate all sound ordinances and exhaust laws yet they get off free and people with subs get stopped. I would 10X rather hear a sub pounding than a stupid motorcycle.
