Kicker RCAs

Second Skin sound deadening

I plan to make this purchase tomorrow. Please let me know if I'm making a good choice or if I should really consider something else.

I will be installing this setup in a '06 Silverado crew cab. How much sound deadening am I going to need? What would be the minimum you would recommend? This is my daily driver and don't plan to do any competing. So I don't have to go to the extreme with getting it completely deadened.

Thank you so much!

By the way, anyone here done a system in a crew cab Chevy? How long of RCAs am I going to need?

Deadening isn't just for comps, its to get better responses from the drivers because it helps reflect sound waves. I would recommened at least 1 layer in the entire truck (doors, roof, floor, w/e)

As for the RCA's go get a tape measure, see how long it is to do the run ur considering .

Sounds like a pretty good setup. What kinda box u planning for hte 3 10"s?

Custom sealed enclosure behind the rear seat. I'm going to have to move my rear seat forward 1" because there's not enough room for mounting depth.

Any particular procedure to laying the deadening? Prepping? Or is it just peel and apply? Also, do I need to get every crack and cranny? Anything I don't want to put it on/under/on top/etc.?

I used to have a pair of JL Audio 10W3V2s in a single cab truck powered by a PPI2400 like 7 years back. I was very pleased with the performance, so that is why I was doing JL Audio subs again. Then I've heard great stuff about the amps, so I opted for them. I wanted to go a little more extreme this time around, so I decided on 3 10s and stepped it up with a 1000/1. I talked to one of the guys at JL Audio the other day and he told me that the engineer that used to design the PPI amps now works for them.

sound deadening is really important for the music to be clean, lot less ear fatigue and more pleasing to listen to.... IMO it is more important in a DD than a competition setup...

I would suggest 1layer all over and at least an additional layer for the doors and where the suubs goona hit.

it all looks good if you have the money go for it and let us know how it sounds.

but i think you could get better for your money.

there are millions of things that you can get that will be just as loud or sound just as good or both that are better for the price. JL audio is pretty much at the top of mainstream and have a good reputation so they tend to charge an a$$laod of money for their products. i bet you could get 3 15" Maws and an amp putting 500rms to each and it will out pound and sound just as clean as 3 10s i just dont know if they will fit in the space you have.

i say go for it, if that floats ur boat, as far as deading i wouldnt definately get enough for both doors and the back wall of your truck you may want to multi layer that back wall. If the road noise isnt bad from the floor i wouldntrip out the carpet, but if u want to thats up to u and ur budget

well he got a '06 though his car should be pretty solid already i guess

the focals are good stuff

for sub, look into ascendant audio, fi , tc sounds, jbl , digital designs, re audio, alpine type-x

for amplifier, look into us amp, jbl, lanzar optidrive, and many others, i only have those in my head, lol, even though the jl is a pretty sweet amp, its just quite expensive and part of the money is only for those 2letters... J L

in other words. search around the forum before you buy your gears. i'm sure you'll find the stuff you need

btw 37DYTBOI wut pick-up is in ur sig? looks pretty sweet

E/C truck you need around 200sq ft of deadener. You could get by with a bit less, but if you are spending that much money on gear the deadener is well worth it.
