Does any one make money off the interest you can earn with paypal?? Right now im currently earning 5.03%... i was thinking, if i were to put $1000 in my account and let it sit for 12months i would have $1794 at the end of the year. Anybody ever thought of this? Just curious as to what everyone thinks.

If you put $1000 in and you are getting 5% interest, you will not have $1794 at the end of the year

Im still trying to figure out how you got over a 70% gain with only 5% interest...

I think what he did is make the mistake of thinking that the interest was 5 % compounded monthly. The equation would be

= 1000 ( 1.05) ^ 12

which equals $1795 ish.

Now if it is 5% annually, compounded annually, then it would be

1000 ( 1.05) ^1 which is $1050 like the guys said.

Now if it is 5% annual interest rate compounded monthly then it would be:

1000 ( 1 + (0.05/12)) ^ 12 = $1051.16.
