Making grilles?

What are some good techniques? So far I'm bending some metal grille from home depot to fit, but it really isnt going that well.

Most homemade grills seem to be of the clean lexan variety, held out away from the speaker via metal studs.

Guess that doesn't solve your problem though, you'd still have to make a frame.

make a frame out of project panel, basically real thin MDF type stuff, and wrap it in grill cloth as mentioned earlier.

I'm already using grille cloth. I ended up taping off the entire area, baffle to paint, and put some expanding foam in there. Then I cut it down and used it as a stencil and then cut out some frames. I could not get the right size. I'd cit something out, too small. Try and mold some plastic, could not get it to stay. It worked, I'll post some pics tomorrow, but I am not liking how the kicks look after paint,
