Major problems with new surround sound.

Just got in my Acoustic Research HC6 speaker set and got it all hooked up to my compy, and It works for DVD movies, and other 5.1 programs(games) and thats about it. I get full 5.1 surround sound, but When i try to listen to music on itunes, i have stereo sound, but no sub. Ill mostly be listening to music on it, so i require sub for itunes. Is there a program or something i could use to make itunes have some sort of generic 5.1 output?

I got it figured out, i checked a button called stereo x-pander and it spread out all channels and gave me sub, and center channel( kinda stupid).
