12" 600W Dual 2-Ohm Subwoofer12'' $199.00

But

12" 800W Dual 2-Ohm Subwoofer $109.00

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14816

Similar subs, but huge price diffence, almoust by 100 dollars, even though the one that costs less performs better. I dont get this. I thought these brands were very similar to each other. Guess not?

Although, with the JL (first one) handles less contiuious then the kicker (bottom) but still its so much more? I cant beleive that quality plays a big role in this, just because the brands seem to be so much alike.

Because I was looking at something like this..

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=1994

(although a bit more power handling)

but for that price, it looks like I can get something much better such as this..

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16852

Although, there is a signifigace cone size difference

Someone care to explain why different brands with similar specs are so much difference in price, and why for the same price, specs differ so much. Thanks a bunch.

Oh, I see. Thats good to know. So I suppose for a first time sub owner/buyer kicker would do just fine?

And what about eclipse? Or powerbass (from what I hear they are really good, especially the new line)

higher power handling doesnt also = higher price

how much space you have? how much money? how much power on tap? more sq or spl based? Gonna have anything up front to go with it?

Yep my first and current sub is a Kicker L5, been running real good and strong. Take a look at L5's for a first time sub

JL Audio sells top notch equipment. I haven't had experience with either sub but I'm sure the JL has better sound quality over the kicker. I've heard that kicker has decent output though

TIP: Don't look at power ratings when looking for a subwoofer, That eclipse will absolutely slaughter the kicker and jl audio w3.

You need to troubleshoot. I assume you have an aftermarket HU. I'd start there by running a signal from a phone or ipod (etc) to the RCA outputs...

I have the same issue.... 4dr sedan. Trunk is a bass trap. Ski pass is the only opening to the cabin. Forward firing, pretty well sealed off...
