What up everybody. I'm new to the car audio game but I have been doin a lil research and it seems like most people settle for mainstream brands like alpine, kenwood, pioneer and etc. when there are better brands out there. Why is that?

Because they don't know about the "other" brands. Most people walk in to bestbuy or car stereo shop, see alpine/kicker/audiobahn/rockford type stuff and choose from that. Not that all of it's bad, but there is definetely better out there.

Luckily for me I like researching before I buy, so ended up with a good first setup =). I think alot of people on here however, started out with a so called "best buy" system before they found this forum and moved on .

Well I just want to think all the people that post on this site cause u have opened up my eyes to the car audio game. The only "mainstream brands" equipment I will have in my car is a head unit.

Not I. My first setup was a 18" BTL fully loaded with a Visonik v4000xd. Never fixed the amp though so I couldnt run it.

Well I just want to think all the people that post on this site cause u have opened up my eyes to the car audio game. The only "mainstream brands" equipment I will have in my car is a head unit.

Alpine, Pioneer, panasonic, JVC, etc do great at making HU's, no reason to buy an unknown brand there. There sub department is always the best though. They make some of the best bang for your buck comps though.
