actually its not mac vs pc...its more like OSX vs Windows. they both have pretty much the same guts. one just looks different and costs more.
but id rather have windows xp right now. so much easier to use for me, OSX is a little TOO user friendly for my taste

The reason Macs don't get viruses is because people don't write malicious software (viruses) for them. There are way more Microsoft haters out there than there are for Mac OS. They are not more stable as they can fail just as much as a PC. Since Apple is the proprietary software writer for Mac, there are far less glitches in the programming. Less things to mess up. Since PC is pretty much open source, there are many programmers out there writing stuff for the PC...some of which can cause conflicts. You have to give up a little bit of reliablility to get more software, sadly. They are not better for graphic design work either. If you spend as much on a PC as people do on a Mac, you'd have a computer that would blow a Mac away anyday.
PCs get more junk because there are probably 500 of us for every 1 mac, if the rolls were reversed the Mac would be the 'victim' its all about numbers and why would you write code for system which is used much less than the other when you can gain much better numbers just doing it for a PC.
Same goes for Firefox, it will always be more secure than IE BUT let's see FF get 80% + market share and you will see a lot more exploits coming out for FF. The other issue is many tech savvy PC users use FF which means a better chance they are running anti-virus, firewall etc where as many IE users are just people who buy a cheap PC from Dell throw it on the internet and never worry about keeping anything up to date or protecting it.

it's like saying which car is better... they both go from one spot to another which is their primary function....
you can get higher quality computers in which the manufacturer or designer put extra thought into custom making one for a particular customer but they still function similarly to off the shelf ones from your local best buy..... they can be faster or better designed or depending on the makeup of parts and quality can last depending on warranties.... it all just depends on what you want out of your computer...... for what people use computers for at home all macs and pc's do the same things....

I have been saying this for at least 7 years to deaf ears. It is easy to dodge bullets when you stay out of everyones sights.

My roomate goes to school where they are $5000 macs and those crash more then his crapola computer when running Maya and 3DSMAX.
