Old Yamahas Give Me Wood
I know this question belongs on the amp board, but nobody there ever awnsers my questions.
I currently have a JBL BP600.1 amplifier pushing my audiobahn 1200Q. I bench tested this amp at 584w constant power @ 14.0v. I know it's not pushing my sub to its full potential, but this way I'm sure I won't blow it.
I had an offer yesterday to trade my 600.1 plus $50 for a brand-new-in-the-box 2002 MA Audio UL1700. I looked the amp up, and these are the specs I got for it.
ULTRA LINEAR UL1700
Full MOSFET Circuitry
Fully Adjustable X/Over
Regulated Power SupplY
High Current Amps
True 1 Ohm Stability
Built In Cooling Fan!
4-AWG Molded Terminals
Machined Finish Heatsink
Tinted Plexiglass Front panel with Fan opening
UL1700 Specifications:
Class AB Mono Subwoofer Amplifier
Adjustable Subwoofer Crossover
Remote Gain Control
600 WATTS X 1 CHANNEL @ 4 OHMS
800 WATTS X 1 CHANNEL @ 2 OHMS
1200 WATTS RMS X 1 CHANNEL @ 1 OHM
Does anyone know if these stats are realistic for this amp, or does MA overrate their products? If these are accurate stats, I will probably run two 1200Q's off this amp in 1ohm mode. Is this amp as good/better than my 600.1? Would you accept this trade?
I don't know anything about MA Audio, so all advice and comments are appreciated!
