how big is the book? and how much does MECP school roughly starts at?

i dont think the book is to expensive, but the school are fakin expensive. and the test isnt to hard, took a practice test and got an 80 percent. so if i can pass it anyone can.

Update i bought the book. Well worth 30$. studying helps alot.

Im going to schedule my test tomorrow morning. and get certified ASAP

My book sits in my car, if you do remote starts all day alot of it is just common sense untill you get into the I, E, P and all that electrical theory gets tricky just take good notes, and you will do well (from what im told atleast)

what benefits do you get from passing this test? How much did it all cost? Is it pretty prestigious as far as car audio schools go??

Benifits are that if you work for Best Buy you get like a dollar more per hour i believe, Chances are you will be hired before a non mecp installer. If already a professional look to have the shop pay for the training.

I can ace the practice test, how much harder is the real one? My fear is that I just memorized the practice test questions.

Look on MECP's web site. You can search your area for a test proctor site. I have one a few miles from my house. It costs $50 to take the test and about $30 for the study guide. Some shops look for MECP certified guys and others don't care. If you plan on installing for a living it's definately worth the effort to get certified. Good luck.

yeah i think one of the installers i met at bestbuy when i worked there started at $11 an hour. but it is only a $1 increase at bestbuy, not sure about other places.

nah go to a car audio school, and i used to get a 40 until i started studying

my freind went to mobile dynamics in arizona.

and that cost about $5000

got certified and everything..

he now currently has a job at great sounds in muncie indiana and makes $6 an hour //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif .

haha. but best buy said if he were to get hired there he would make like $10
