Lucas oil additive - Good stuff?

Just made a mixture to put in my manual transmission, it's been hard shifting as of lately. Figured I'd give the stuff a try.

I couldn't believe how THICK the stuff is, much thicker than 10w40 (which is also in my mixture of fluids).

Hope this stuff works. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Any thoughts?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

I have used it many of times on older cars with High Miles on them.

Seems to work I had a Mazda B2200 with Nasty lifter tic Reslone didnt help it at all. Lucas Oil didnt remove the ticking but made it much more quite then it was.

Its great for transmissions too, I tend to use Power Punch with Graphite more for that sort of application.

It is good stuff, but most of what it does is change the viscosity. Most oil additives do change the viscosity to make it thicker/thinner.

An fyi if your interested.

Royal Purple and Mobil 1 use the same base stock. The only difference is between the 2 is color and about $2 a quart.

Yeah, only oil I use in my engine is Mobile-1 Full Synthetic. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

funny you should say that cause i was just getting my oil changed and the guy tole me Mobil 1 is out of there stock line-up.

according to him (take it for what its worth) the Valvoline out preformed it in every aspect.

I bought some to try in one of my transmissions but never ended up using it. I bought a really popular oil to put in manual trannies that is called GM Syncro Mesh Friction Modified. It's a really good oil when the shifting feels rough or your syncros are wearing out. I wouldn't recommend it for a good transmission though because it's a thin oil

if you are talking about what i think you are...the stuff sticks to the metal in your engine and transmission alot better than normal oil so it is good as an additive but is obviously too thick to use by itself

I used to work one of those drive thru oil change places and the only time we put Mobil 1 into a customers car was when the customer supplied it. Otherwise we would sell them Castrol GTX at nearly 2X the cost of the regular bulk stuff.

Just remember that the service station would rather sell you what they carry instead of you bringing your own oil and will of course push their product onto you.

IMHO, Nothing beats a fully synthetic engine oil. Studies show that the oil is still good even after 10K miles. The same studies also suggest replacing just the oil filter every 5K miles.
