<-cell phone newb... need help

my girlfriend threw my phone against the wall... (ok ok, it was me...) and it works fine... except that i don't have service... anywhere. What allows the cell phone to recieve a signal? the battery is working, the antenna isn't broken, the simm card is there...

any ideas?

How do you know the antenna's not broken internally?

May have to re-solder the base of the connector back on the PCB, if it looks like it's disconnected.

it would help if you said what kinda phone and service you have. i mean if its cingular thats probably the reason you dont have service right there.

already did, checked all of the internals... it's all there

get a T6 torx driver, take it apart, between the back housing and the keypad housing. theres where the antenna rests when its all one piece. theres gonna be a little black piece that has a bent piece of copper on it. make sure its in place to recieve any signal at all. get back to me or if you have aim

**** you broke a nextel, how'd the wall turn out? i mean seriously with that phone the wall should be hurtin' too. oddly enough, i snapped my sanyo 5400 in half and the LCD quite working but i ghetto rigged the ribbon cable into the back of a kenwood in dash, and then my buddy and i got it working as bluetooth. so the lcd screen was the in dash kenwood, the phone was custom mounted to near the cup holders, and it was bluetooth, twas awesome.
