NOW it seems retarded...if we never had speed limits on highways it would be no big deal and a regular thing for us...
ever heard or researched the autobahn???
Yeah. I have actually been to Europe and driven on the roads in a few countries. You know why they do not have speed limits? Because they don't know WTF urban sprawl or tracked housing is. Its rural or urban, nothting else. You take away speed limits in the bay area and it would be a blood bath. And the fact is the Autobahn is being regulated more and more each year, especially in more populated areas. Maybe in some white trash middle of nowhere area it would fly, but not in actual civilization.

I have been there too and driven on them, and if they were built without speed limits, yes, things would have to be taken into consideration like, "how many people live around here, how many cars are estimated to be on these roads" it takes research to build interstates n shit

it would be a great undertaking to do, which is why it never will happen

my point was that now it would not be possible to do this since we have had speed limits for so long, and yes it could have been done even with mass civilization you just have to account for population size and how many lanes are needed

Don't forget the taxes required to maintain roads of that stature. You think gas prices are high now. Think of all the taxes required to maintain roads that large.

im not trying to argue with you bro just trying to make a point

Plus I believe your car has to pass inspection, I know some states/counties already do this but I believe its way harsher in order to drive on the autobahn

They already tried this with Nixon.....thats not a solution
We have enough oil and coal in USA that we'd never need to buy any from anywhere.......soon as we silence the democrats for not letting us drill youll see that

Unless you wanna run the country on Wind and Solar power.......
lol

hey treyE hows fgcu, omid being a crackhead??
i left for a semester, going back in spring so i havent really seen your brother much except when i went to visit a couple weeks back

but im pretty sure he is still the same crackhead as when i left hahaha

um currently speed limits are based mostly on safety.
Back in the gas crisis, the motives were different, and I'm not saying that gas conservation isn't part of it, but mostly it's cause we don't want people going 100 when people aren't prepared for that.

I think we should let the markets decide. It works in Europe, rich people go fast, normal people drive more reasonably.

Controlling gas prices is a terrible idea. We'd have a gas shortage because NO ONE will want to supply gas to us.
x2

We're not in this amazing gas shortage. We have gas, it's just expensive. Speed limit isn't for economy reasons, it's purely for safety reasons. That's why you can accelerate from 0-speed limit in 2 seconds or whatever, as long as you stay within the speed limit. This is based off of the pedestrian danger based on an average of stopping times + human reaction times. The reason there's even a speed limit at all on a highway is because after a certain speed, cars become a lot more susceptible to bumps and minor twitches at the wheel. (Which is why some luxury cars have a function where the steering wheel becomes more stiff as the speed increases)

Now GTFO. The speed limit's fine and with in well reason.
