loudness/eq?

i would like to know this also.. the site i went off of when i set my gains with a dmm said to turn bass/treb/mid to 0 and loudness off and then set gains.. and then after u set gains u put them back up to where u want them.. was the site wrong?

ok well i set the gain with my sub settings all the way up on my pioneer deh-p3000ib HU. This means i had it at 125hz cross over with 6 bass and sub on normal. The other settings were like this when i set the gain: eq set to flat, loudness off, bass boosters on HU and AMP off, HPF at 125hz, SRC LV adjust (SLA) set to 4 (because this is how i listen to it...not sure if i shoulda had this at 0 or not....first time i set gain i did so with this at 0 and my gain eneded up being much higher than it came out to be this time). Then i set the gain with my volume 75% up, 50hz test tone playing on reapeat, hooked up a DMM with the subs NOT attached to the amp, turned up gain until my desired 31.6 voltage was reached
so did i do everything ok? Was i correct in setting the gain with my SCR-LV up? And so are you guys saying i CAN use super bass eq, because its part of tuning?

thanks

EDIT: The second time i set my gain with the SRC-LV all the way up (at 4) my gain knob reached the voltage right at the "nominal" position on the amp. The first time the gain was about 1/4 further up at the 0.5 mark (this way with SRC-LV at 0).
anyone know the answers to this?

thanks

the thing is, if i set all setting to how i had them when i set my gain, then turn up the volume to around 42 or so (out of 46 becasue this is where i set my gain) The music coming out of my stock speakers is actually TOO loud...it hurts my ears. My sub sounds good at this volume tho.

So i want to find out how to lower my music voume coming out of my stock speakers but still ahve the sub as loud as it was with my volume way up.....and the only way i have found to do this is by using superbass eq at around 30-35 volume.

Is this ok? Should i have set my gain with my SLA at 0 instead of 4? The only reason i set my gain with my SLA at 4 was becsue my music coming out of the sotck spears was not loud enough at lower volumes...but now when i turn it up its too loud...but if i turn the volume down my sub isnt loud enough lol.

im just unsure of what to do here...keep using superbass eq at 30-35 volume? rest gains with dif settings?

Yes. Now that you have correctly set your gains, now you are set to use your boost (or cut) to adjust to taste, music and system need.
As a general rule, you use the loudness boost (bass and trebble boost) at low volumes, and turn it off for high volumes.

It's best to use the controls on your head unit and leave the amp settings alone.
I wouldn't use it at any volumes, personally. LOL@Distortion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

yea im not using it. The only thing i adjusted after i set my gain is the custom eq setting which is what im using...all other boosters are off/at 0 (except for the SLA thing but i set my gain with that up)

So hopefully im fine....im not gonna ever turn up my volume past 35 (out of 46)using my custom eq option because i dialed in more in the "low" setting which gave me more bass
