lost my bass knob - will another work?

did a search and sifted thru 5+ pages o' shit, but no clear-cut answer to my quandry.

somehow as my amp sat in my bedroom before I could get to the install, the remote bass knob disappeared. who knows where it went. anyway, it's an MB Quart amp and the control connects directly to the amp with a telephone jack. could I pick up another knob, say one made for a Rockford or JL amp that has the same telephone jack connection, and use that instead?

any "universal" bass knobs I've managed to find hook up with RCAs to the line-ins on your HU, but I can't go that route because I'm still working with my stock deck for a few months.

and we probably don't need to go off on a "dude you meant gain attenuator, let me compare and contrast the differences for everyone" tangent...whatever you want to call it, I just need to know if I can swap and plug.

nah guys I know how to set the thing - set the gains with it at max, and it will never go past it, even tho I'm probably not ever going to go max anyway. isn't this a legit question? do other amps not use a phone jack to hook up the knob?

Why don't you just set the gains with it all the way down, and you don't have to worry about touching it ever again? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no mas responses? perhaps my humor was a bit odd - didn't mean to swipe at you, Bill. it was all in fun.

what I gather from the few remarks is that another manufacturer's knob will NOT work. I figured there was a good chance that the circuitry and signals passed from the knob to the amp is the same across brands, but perhaps I'm wrong here.

I could attempt to find a new MB Quart remote knob somewhere, but that company is not exactly a heavy hitter in the amp department. Rockford/JL/Kicker knobs are in abundance on eBay, but maybe I can contact MB Quart directly if this mash-up idea isn't feasible.

thanks again for the continued help, fellas.
