loss of hp after ho alt

Harder to turn over, so it takes more work out of the engine to keep it moving. You could get an electric fan and take some load off of the belt drive.

Boost it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Thought about it but a supercharger is gonna be about $2500. W/ that kind of money I could get a lot of car audio. Also, I already get shit for mpg and I don't know if I want to drop to single digits just to have more power

A HO alt shouldn't drop your mpg. MAYBE by a little. It only really puts up resistance when under a high load. So if your driving around playing test tones your gonna have crappy gas millage.
X2, shouldnt be very noticeable unless your under strong load, unplug the pocket rocket out of your *** while your driving, save some power.

Yes, I run 4 alts on a V6 and its a huge strain on the engine itself, at full tilt driving @ 70 mph my truck will actually slow down a good 10 mph, lol... But I also run over 21k+ watts, V6 FTL, work with what you got!

Not the pocket rocket! My alt doesn't make me get bad mpg, my car in general gets bad mpgs, around 13 if I drive conservatively. W/ a supercharger it would be near 10mpg and I say **** thar

Takes power to make power. You should see what a 300amp alt does to a stock crx motor.
...you should see what 225+250 amp alts do to a saturn motor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif..you have to turn it down to accelerate at all, no joke.

i bet. i had a 185a in it a year ago and i didnt remember it being this bad. the car drags even with no music on at all sometimes and sometimes its ok. i think its b/c i got an alt from a yukon, which is considerably bigger then the jimmy alts. O well, its not like im racing anyone in a 99 GMC Jimmy w/ 20s

Hmm, with it on low volume/not playing at all mine is back to normal with no lack of power as far as I can tell..
I couldnt imagine driving a saturn with all that gear plus the strain of those alts, must be slow as shit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif How much mpg do you get now vs stock?

It actually drives just fine and can still get up and go when I want to (I drive it nice and easy though)...it's in really good condition still. And I did the math for gas mileage with almost all the equipment+enclosure in for this new build (not running yet though) and both alternators hooked up I still got 28.4 mpg (a lot of that was city driving too).

On this upcoming trip to Indianapolis for Slamology im going to be seeing what kind of mileage I get with almost all highway and just one of the alternators hooked up (the 225 will be running, the 250 amp alt will be bypassed with a stock belt for my car without AC)...should be around 30 mpg still I'd guess //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The alternator should take very little power. If you wanna make up for it you can remove the a/c from your car, that might do it because the belt wouldn't have to turn the a/c pulley, you could search for a billet aluminum crankshaft pulley for your car to make up the difference, or the simplest method is to go to any car parts store, buy a new cone air filter, remove your old air filter and box, and replace with the cone filter.
