lop- sided cuts from home depot

And I wanna see TypeRBass try and use a table saw in an apartment. I'll let him clean up the mess.
oh it could be done...if i lived in an apartment i'd still buy one and use it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif just ummmm use it in the parking lot!

Yea that would be nice but by the time I finish buying all the tools for cutting it at home I could have someone just build the fukin thing...

I've been on a drinking binge lately over this project cause my sub will be here soon and it still wont have a home....

1/2 inch off is ALOT ... When you looked at the box you could see how the box started big at top and began to narrow as you got twords the bottom..

I'm still venting on this project.... anyone close to washington state wanna build me one?

HomeDepot is a shit hole, the worst service

next time try out the local mom and pop lumber yards - they are usually 10x more on the ball - and you help support a local business instead of a corporate pig

man i'd build the box as well as could be with the improper cuts.

then i'd bring it to them and be like? wtf i want a refund.

also another thing about tools and apartments.

Not many parking lots, underground garages have power outlets..

If you have the proper space buying the tool is obviously the right thing to do.

tools pay for themselves over time.

^^^ sooo true, if I had the space that would be my FIRST option.

Yea I tried to put that box together but with the angled cuts, when I tried to put the back piece it covered about half the box then as there was a 1/8 of an open space!!!!

So unless i wanted to fill that space with fiberglass resin or SOMETHING it was just impossible. I mean my wife looked at the box and said, is that box lop sided? Anyway, I'm just venting cause I'm still heated ... this was my week end project and I was SOOOO pumped ... but now... I just want to quit!

man 50 bajillion extension cords from your apartment window to your car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and the little brown ones not the big orange ones LOL

There's a sign at my local HD that clearly states they will not make "precision" cuts. You also hafta understand that the saw equipment gets pretty abused and doesn't stay in alignment, so you can't expect a whole lot from them. I think 1/2" is bullshit though.

With the new battery technology, portable power tools are perfectly viable for apartment bound DIY'ers. An 18 volt jigsaw and a straightedge would hook you up fine. A couple of milk crates for support. A spot in the shade in your local park..

The boxes I've made have all been less than 16" tall, so I've bought Melamine (MDF) "shelving" instead of full sheets. Easier to carry.

As a seasoned home depot employee, I have to throw in my .02 and say do anything you can to get the mdf cut without having home depot do it. Whenever someone asks me to cut some wood for them i tell them that i'm late for my break and if they can catch me in 15 minutes ill think about it. After 20 minutes i will come back out and hide from them. If for some reason i actually do have to cut the wood, I will measure the cuts using the measurement tool that is attatched to the panel saw itself (it is off like 3/16's). The reason i do this is that people ALWAYS ***** and complain when i tell them only the first 2 cuts are free, after that its .50$ a cut. "AHHH, thats crap, back when I was a kid you could get as many cuts as you needed, it was called customer service, infact, back in '56......." Well *******, here are your free cuts, and just remember, nothing in this world is free. I'm done.

Your right^^^ who can complain for .50 cent cuts, I know I sure did'nt while I was there. When the guy started cutting, (and finally went through 2 SHEETS of mdf) I told him, hay maybe we should ask someone else if you have other stuff to do.

He actually told me he was one of the BETTER employees able to cut the wood in a straight line.

I personally think (like it was mentioned above) the equipment was out of line. I believe the guy who did the cutting did EVERYTHING in his power to make a straight cut. I did'nt beach at him or anything...

I stayed there for 1 1/2 hrs and took the *best* sheets he had. (which upon assembly they were still crappy)

Hell I'd have paid 2 bucks a cut if they were right
