so i pulled out my sub today, because it wasnt performing as it used to, and i either thought maybe i snapped a tinsel lead or i blew it out. so i played it at very low volume out of the box, and as it was playing, it sounded like something was loose inside the motor or magnet part of the sub, the subs are 02l74's, the other one works perfectly, it just sounds like this one has something loose, does anyone know what it could be/or is it fixable? anyhelp would be awesome. thanks.

is it a nocking sound? what is it doing? you might have a tinsel loose, the dustcap could be loose, the coil could be burned a little and scratching on the t-yoke\top plate, or it could be simply bottoming out because its not in an enclosure and you were playing a low note.

*shrug*

yea I have the same problem with one of my subs but when i push done its kind of makes a suction cup pop off noise but the tensils look fine their not loose no burn marks no smell and it gets just as loud as the other subs just makes this horrible rattleing noise that would be impossible to stand and I metered it and the ohms are fine.

broken coil

yeah that's what i was afraid of, but i think that's what it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

time to shop for new subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

coil rubbin on the top plate huh? lol

that's a possiblility.. how do i check that?

it almost sounds like dust or something got in the motor, its like something is in there rattling, and when i blow in it you can hear it, i think im gonna take a compressor to it

hmm ok, ill try that tommorow, i just hope its not blown, when i push on the center it makes kind of a gritty slight scraping, not like a metal to metal scraping when you blow a speaker, its like theres sand in it, haha, but, i dont live by the beach
