For my system, I want two 12's or possibly 3 10's, but I want them to hit hard without being muddy at all. I dont think that one 15" would meet my expectations at all...

I was told that Adire Audio's 12" Shivas are very good subs for their value price of $125, I cant find anything on the net that looks comparable to them. Could anyone give me their input on these speakers or possibly some others that arent too expensive?

Which subds would I get for the 3 10's? I dont know if it would be worth it to put 3 10's or if I can pack the same punch with 2 12's? For $250 I can have 2 12's if I go with the Shivas, then all I need to do is design and build my own box. What other subs are out there that are around this price range (I dont want to spend more than $350 for the subs) and have the same quality as the Shivas? Thanks for all the helP!

Norcal, that is all jibberish to me....Car Audio is a brand new world for me to explore!

For only $100 more for two 15's, would I get a lot better sound and more bump by going with two tempests over two shivas?

tmepest like it big and low so don't be surprised if you see people myself being one of them telling you 4 cubes /sub ported 23-30 hz mine are going in 8 cubes before dispalcements and tuned @ 27 hz

i have one set up right now in 4 cubes @ 23 HZ and it is PLENTY loud and sound amazing... 300-400 watts per sub will toss them around VERY well i have 500 and it is to much

when my other sub arrives back from warrenty soon i hope the two should wang pretty hard.

I think I may go with teh two Tempest subs but someone else reccommended Two Memphis PR's. He said they have quality and they go for cheap on ebay. Let me know if anyone here has had experience with them?

I think the Kicker Comp subs are the cheapest, most versatile subs you can get- seal them, port them, even free air- they do the job well

You dont need alot of power either to get loud- 3 10's would be very nice

Think about it though; Two tempest authorized w/ full warranty, or two Memphis subs off of egay that could blow in a week and leave you screwed...............

Not saying one sub is better than the other, but if the performance was similar and I had the choice between authorized and non-authorized; I'd pick the authorized w/ warranty

phoenix gold have some nice value subs .... value makes them sound cheap but i had 4 12s in a truck bed box and it was louder than my current setup .... box is the main reason. but i had ~450 going to each and it would shake the HU and its den so bad i couldnt really play test tones for more than a sec at a time.

the Ti series subs go for ~100 each and handled the 450 watts i gave them like cake. many of the people on here who have had experience with them weill tell you they are a heck of a sub.

i like how you think squeak9797 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I purchased the two Tempest subs tonight, I can always send them back for the phoenix golds though....anyone else have thoughts on the phoenix subs?

Ok....above you specifically referred to me....Tempests are good subs, sound great supposedly, but i can only attest to how well a some subs sound. You might want to consider getting a single sub. Less cancellation, better build quality, etc. It has many advantages. But i would definately recommend tempests. Type R 15's are awesome, RE SE 15's are awesome. You have a lot of options. Just make sure you dont buy something without looking fully into the purchase.

Did you go and stuff his face into the port?

j/k

I know this thread is old, but I'm in the same situation Apoc was in. Except I don't have a mid 90s taurus (my sister does, though). I have a mazda 626 (as you all know by now) and I am thinking about 1 ported tempest or 2 ported shivas. I know shivas get about 1.5 cu ft per sub sealed, but what about ported?

I don't want to take up my whole trunk, so two ported tempests are out. I could seal two tempests or two shivas, but from what everyone here says, ported boxes can sound just as good and be much louder at the same time.

So two ported shivas or one ported tempest?

Norcalracer283- could you go into a little more detail about the benefits of one sub over two? From what I hear, noise cancellation of two subs is more theoretical than audible.

And running even 1000w isn't going to bog down my electrical system, is it?
