Lookie what dave made me

Looking forward to the testing Tommy!
The subs that got quieter -- were they burped at really high frequencies ? Perhaps the shifting FS was the reason.
My truck peaks at 41-43 hz depending on the sub and the weather.

My buddy that I'm talking about peaks in the mid 50's range (crx).

Very interesting indeed.

I've done a bunch of testing in my Jeep -- any time I add suspension stiffness my SPL drops like a rock on an otherwise identical woofer. On a Nightshade, for example, I will drop over 2 dB going from 2 hard / 1 soft spider up to 3 hard / 2 soft spiders... and this is with 7000+ watts of power.

I dropped to an even softer suspension recently and I tested incredibly high SPL output per watt.

I am really interested to see what your findings are so I can compare //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Some food for thought.

I did some power testing with the 9512 which is still pretty darn stiff (reconed right before finals).

With 660 watts it did a 149.8 outlaw.

But in the end I'm going to get some serious results from this recone test. Same woofer, same power, same install.

What I've been talking about before have just been my testing over the years with the same woofer, not really head-to-head like I'm going to be doing.

Here is some of my testing... dash scores @ 53 Hz.

1st is a Z v.2 prototype with 2H / 1S of the Nightshade v.1 spiders (pretty hard spiders):

148.4 -- 1250 watts

150.1 -- 2020 watts

150.8 -- 2530 watts

152.5 -- 3980 watts

153.1 -- 5350 watts

153.2 -- 5570 watts

2nd is a Z v.2 prototype with 2 of my new spiders made for the Z v.2 (4 of these is about equal to the 2H/1S setup):

HU Setting / Power / SPL

-6 / 540 watts / 146.0 dB

-5 / 680 watts / 146.9 dB

-4 / 860 watts / 147.7 dB

-3 / 1090 watts / 148.6 dB

-2 / 1380 watts / 149.5 dB

-1 / 1730 watts / 150.3 dB

0 / 2230 watts / 151.2 dB

+1 / 2780 watts / 151.9 dB

+2 / 3480 watts / 152.8 dB

+3 / 4800 watts / 153.5 dB

Good results.

I'm making an excel sheet of all my testing so I don't have to try and read my crappy handwriting. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

If you're interested I could send you the sheet after I'm done with my testing.

I am interested -- hit me up when done !

Well I'm thinking it has to do with motor strength.

If a motor is TOO strong for the softparts being used (or too weak), then the motor strength isn't being used to its full advantage.

But I'm talking out of my *** really.
