Sealed legal at the dash. Thank you Gorilla tape.

I tried adding a roundover to my port today which lowered tuning 2hz and lost me .5 dB. I'd really like to find a couple more tenths so that I can consistently do 57 regardless of weather/heat.

Nice, the tweaking pays off. You roll around listening to it that loud?
Only 155 and small change with the seats in (peaking at 41 as opposed to 45), and yeah I play it pretty loud sometimes, but mostly on drives longer than half an hour I have subs turned off and listen to audiobooks or talk radio.

Speaking of get loud, I thought you were buying a big amp to do something with some of your nice TC subs, how's that coming along?

Having read plenty of well informed posts from you, I am not surprised at all that you drive around listening to audiobooks. I do the talk radio thing a bit during the week but I really need to get with the audiobooks thing, that's a no-brainer for utilizing your time wisely.
Yeah, I need to break out my table saw and get busy. My lady is keeping me occupied with yard projects and minor home improvements so I'm a little behind on fun time. Loud for me is not even close to the type of loud that you guys are managing, but I am trying to put together something fun and well out of the norm for me. I picked up that Orion XTR 2500.1d everyone was buzzing about and I'm getting ready to throw that on either the neo 18", 3HP 15", or 4HP 15". I imagine that would get me into the 40's with decent sound quality. I would like to audition each of those before the snow falls again.

I've been doing pretty well with power levels up to 1500w or so but I need to bolster up my electrical before I get too serious about getting "loud". These alternators and battery banks are pricey.

Neo as in NRT? I'd think 3hp wouldn't need so much power but either of the 4" coils would be a good match for you there. Whatever you're after I'm sure that Orion on one of them could deliver. I'd throw an extra battery in the trunk and call it good. I picked up Duracell branded AGM at Batteries Plus this winter and have been quite happy. They have some big sizes too (110-120AH). Depending on what you're doing even 55AH may suffice. If you're only using the power as mostly headroom to brute force EQ nulls in your response how often will you even use more than the 1500 you've been running? About a 5hz window?

Yep, NRT. You pretty much hit the nail on the head with everything else there. It's reassuring to hear that simply an extra battery may suffice for my approach, I will definitely start with that and see what kind of sag I end up with. I play unrelenting tones now and then so I'm a bit concerned about the sustained current draw in those situations, but I have faith in what you're suggesting.

Assuming you go wild on a loud song you are driving a rather high impedance at your peak frequency. I'd be shocked if 100AH of battery wasn't plenty adequate for anything you'll want to do.

Those NRT subs are very well regarded, interested to see how that pans out for you, is the 4hp 5200 or 5400 top?

Sounds good, I plan to pick one up soon.
Original TC 5200 SPL top on the 4HP so there should be a lot of potential for getting single-sub-loud off that Orion. New territory for me so it will be a while before I'm touting any real stats. I remember a trio of 15W6 subs turning my earwax a bit soft back in the day, I can only imagine what a 4HP will do. Never heard one, believe it or not. lol

Almost all the really loud guys up this way run 4hp (mostly TSNS).

Very impressive for 4" coil. Depending on vehicle and box design I could see 148's out of the (spl oriented) 5200 on 2500W

Getting excited hearing that.
You still getting those numbers from the 4 15s you built?
