lol @ the idiots thinking f bodys and fox's can handle

Nope, they didn't have a 50's ZO6, and they don't put 6cyl engines in the new ones. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Yes but they had 2 doors, 4 wheels, a key, steering wheel, hood, exhaust pipes, windows, seats, dash and a radio. LOL

Trivia time: What was the first year for the Z06?

until i read this thread i honestly never would have put f-body and handling into the same sentance. Thats like putting Bently and drag strip in the same sentence to me.

sure they dont handle like a john deer tracktor or a 1970 muscle car, but they dont out handle cars of the same generation that are made for the track like they are.

What credible source? You mean a magazine who has the car for a few hours for testing? How about lap times, results from autox's and roadracing. What experience do you have? A question you just keep avoiding. Dont beleive everything you until you have done it yourself.
Just about every single magazine actually. I dont race around cones if thats what you're calling experience. I hardly see what that has to do with anything though. I could make up some bullshit, seems to be your game. I'd love to hear about this 911 slaying corner carving vette of yours. fanboy.

I agree, a good driver can change everything, but I have driven my Camaro and a bunch of other cars on the same day at the same track and compared them. What makes me mad is this bozo started out this thread insulting Fbod and Mustang drivers without having any experience to back it up. For some reason their is this myth that Fbods dont handle, which is just wrong. One more thing about the solid axle myth. Take a look at a racing Kart. They have solid axles and are extremely fast around the corners.
Can they handle? Sure, but i guess if we're going there.... so can a geo. Can they handle well? Not at all. They've been outclassed time and time again. I can think of many cars that handle much better and were priced in the same range f-body's were. How did they make up for it? Raw power. Which worked great, until there were corners. If solid rear axles are so great.... why dont real sports cars use them? Modern sports cars.

And comparing a kart to a car. Hmm, something thats two feet wide, an inch from the ground and has an incredibly low center of gravity. Yeah, not going to have a big problem getting the power to the ground or keeping all the wheels down. Give me a break. Great analogy

63 iirc

So whats the point of these 20 pages?

I've owned a 98 Firebird, but that doesn't mean I raced it.

Come on, my civic would walk all over the firebird. On the corners and the straights.

Actually I have an example of something very close to that. I used to race SCCA myself right after high school. I belonged to the Red River Region chapter and I don't honestly know if it even still exists.

I digress...

The president of the RRR chapter of the SCCA back then was a fella named Duke Langley. Duke ran in Super Street Stock class with a ZR1 'Vette.

Duke pwnd almost every race he entered. This was up to and including a TLAC (*****-Louisiana AutoCross) I witnessed/participated in where Duke thoroughly devastated a fella in a 308GTB Ferrarri. I mean completely pwnd him by several seconds a lap.

Scoff all you like at racing through cones but it's (A) a complete blast and (B) a type of racing that the participants don't have to be independently wealthy to do.

And Duke and that ZR1 were one heckuva team.

THAT 'Vette could handle....or at the very least its owner knew well how to drive it to its limits and beyond without wrinkling it up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Heeyyyy, now...

Gossamer resembles that remark //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yes, you are a retard. The smartest thing you have said so far. I have plenty to back up what I say, 4 time SCCA champion and have raced/driven more cars then you think you know about. I am not biased, just know from my experience that late model Fbods are good handling cars. Something you might know if you have ever driven one. Are they the best, nope not at all, but very good. Like I asked earlier, WTF have you done? So far you just shoot your mouth off but have no real experience to back it up. Living close the Heartland Park doesnt mean sh!t unless you have actually driven on it. So tell me why you are so credible. BTW I will be there in September for the National Championships. Come out and learn something.

What class? I've never heard of you.

The ZR1 is not an F-Body or a Mustang.
The ZR1 has an independent front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension designed by Lotus.
I understand that, James.

But my posting was in direct response to Preston remarking about a 911-slaying, corner-carving 'Vette that he wanted to see so I posted about having personally seen a 'Vette thoroughly smash both a Ferrarri's times and the ego of the owner.

Was the 308GTB (same model as used in Magnum, P.I.) a "super"-exotic?

No.

Would most people assume it could outperform something so common as a Chevrolet?

Yep.
