location of port important?

im makin a box for my two alpine type r's and was wondering where to put the port. i've seen some in the middle, some on the sides, and other crazy ones. is one way better than the other? thanks

it depends on car and your preference of sound.

I have an HHR and I like subs up, ports back.

That lets me play low frequencies and hits the meter hard.

This is a common layout in hatch/SUVs.

yea they will give you a little difference depending upon the car. The only real way to pick is to build both and test them out. Tho most people dont want to go through all that.
