local sources for carpet?

Has anyone found a source for speaker carpet retail? I don't want to buy mail order 'cuz I wanna see it first. The local stereo shops don't sell the carpet separately (they want to make your boxes).

Maybe something that works & looks good from Home Depot, PepBoys or some other not-so-obvious source?
