Local Shops

I'm 17, and I guess I don't look that important when I walk into local car audio shops such as Car Toys, Magnolia Hi-Fi, and Car Stereo City, but god ****... these people say things that just aren't true because they want to make me look like I don't know what I'm doing:

Today, I go into Car Stereo City, and I say, "Can I get this amp benched?" Without even trying to be nice or give good service, some dipshit my own age or near it tells me it's 5 bucks. I ask him if he can bench it at 1 ohm, and he goes, "Uh, we don't bench it at ohm loads." Wow. "No, I mean, can you tell me what my amp will do at 1-ohm?" He goes, "Um... let's go see." So, we go out into the install bay, and I talk to a bigger idiot, who is a few years older than I am:

Me: Can you bench this at 1-ohm?

Him: Uh, what are you trying to do?

Me: I'm trying to find out what my amp will do at 1-ohm (what an idiot)

Him: You're gonna fry it if you do that. No amp will be able to handle 1-ohm and not fry.

Me: You're wrong in saying that. I'm sorry you've never worked with a 1-ohm stable amp, but this one is. Now, back to the question, can you bench this at 1-ohm?

Him: No, I don't think we have the power to do that. It wouldn't be able to handle it anyway.

Me: I disagree with you. There are dozens of amps that I can name that are 1-ohm stable, and you obviously have no experience with any of them. There are many of these competition amps that are 1-ohm stable and they don't fry.

Him: ...

Me: Thanks anyway.

What a ****ing dumbshit. To think people go there and have people install things boggles my mind. Remind me to never go to a local shop to have something installed again.

Yup, he's an idiot.

And who gets their amps benched at 4ohms anyways?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It's funny when they send a new guy to me and he doesn't know that I know more than he does ... And you guys know I like to make that guy sweat because they hired him over me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ...
you show em jmac;) We don't have any good shops here either. The only "ok" one carries better brands like directed, PG, etc. I've never really questioned them before, but i dont think they are at future shop smart level:p...

me and my friends call shops every once in a while just to screw with them... called one shop and asked them what ohm resistance was a w7 that they carry. . "50 ohms i think", haha.. some people are idiots..

I had a friend that ownes a shop he ran it perfect. Did not do an 110% mark up on wire harness. He was a good bussiness man. I can pau a pic of his work up on the internet if u want to see it

The shop i work at prides itself in being knowledgable at in our customer service. I really like working there. We are trusted by the public, and we conduct business in the proper manner. By the way..We will bench amps at one ohm...LOL. I am an installer..and i love every minute of it..

Man installing would be as close to heaven as I could get right now. But I was at electronic express and there is one guy (he is smart but I guess totally stupid when it comes to L7's) that was talking to these 2 16, 17 year olds and the seller had a 12L7 out in the kicker box. He sad if you get this sub with this box you could not set in your car, it will break your windows. Now granted they are pretty loud but not that loud. After he sad that I almost started crying.

why the heck is it that you gotta be 18 to work at all these electronic places i mean daamn i really want a job at a place like that just being a seller or installer or anything but they dont hire unless your 18. Is there any place that will hire you at 16 i hate cooking burgers all day i want a fun job or atleast something i kinda enjoy.

Car Stereo City was on Pacific Highway.

I go to Magnolia Hi-Fi when I have questions though, usually. Those guys will give you an honest answer to any question you have, rather than try to sell something to you.

i went to this magnolia hi-fi in beaverton and the guy was saying that the more power u can get to a sub the better, and i dont know if that was necsesarely(dont know how to spell) true? but he knew about the better SQ and SPL subs and stuff like when i asked to look for some SQ subs he showed me the eclipse aluminum series, first time i have heard em they are realy good IMO. so, so far my favorite shop is prolly magnolia hi-fi.
