LMFAO Microsoft selling hd-dvd add on $50

thats what i thought, how does ps3 have it and cost 400. i know nothing about it, they taking a hit or is it not the best of the best?
400 is expensive in my book

they are losing there ***** on the br player. companies always loose money selling consoles, make it up on the games/accessories

INdeed. Just sucks there won't be any future support, and that it doesn't upconvert stock I don't believe.

As I understood it, the 360 did the upconverting but you need a VGA connection on your TV. If you don't have one, you could buy a VGA to HDMI converter or with a simple VGA to component cable.

Blu-ray was outselling HD 3 to 1 and Toshiba was the only backer for HD how could people not see it coming. Its a shame Toshiba lost but I guess this makes up for all the money Sony lost in the 80s on betamax. Just wait though in another few years they will come up with something new like a green laser that can have disc with storage capacities of 100gb each and play even higher resolution movies. Everything is made to be outdated its just a matter of time

I thought I read somewhere that in the future blu-ray discs themselves will be able to hold upwards of 100GB...

Nah, hopefully in a few years we'll be rid of these stupid optical discs and go either to some sort of flash storage or, dare I say, streaming!

Although a movie with HD resolution getting streamed to your house would take quite a network.

When you consider the fact that the 360+HD player added up to $600 when they first came out, $400 for a 40gb PS3 with Blu-Ray isn't bad. Hell, DVD Players were easily $500 when they were still new.

But yeah, they are definitely losing money at that price. Hell, the PS2 held the market worldwide from 1999 on, and that JUST started turning a profit for Sony about a year before the PS3 launched.

the Chinese already have the network bandwidth. 100gb+ wirelessly streaming and its free

edit, i have been streaming hd content to my 360 from my pc for a bit, takes a while to buffer, but still no worse than the time it normally takes to load a br on a ps3

I believe it's actually been the Japanese market where similar bandwidth exists (the one I most often hear cited, particularly when I was in the wireless industry), but the average loads are much lower than the projected loads under a streaming HD delivery system to every house. And here in North America, we are way, way behind them.

But I hope they surprise me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
